seeing a fain "film grain" effect all the time

hi
most of the time i see a faint film grainy effect ive had it for about 4-5 years now,or scince i first noticed it, but always thought it was normal recently though i have noticed it effects me reading text off a lit screen ie in a the classroom at college this is how i noticed it more scince then i have noticed it on just about everthing, i can see it particularly more when i look at a white computer screen or when it is dark at night,  it is not seriously effecting my sight in anyway apart from at night and distinguishing things at distance and im only 17 so its not about age, ive asked freinds about it but i cant get it through to them so i still dont know if everyone sees it or not, its something that i try to ignore but it annoys me exceptionally so i want to know what it is,also i asked my optician about this and he said it may be floaters but its not them i have 20:20 vision and tryed various glasses on in opticians but it doesnt go away

Hey. I've been looking around on the net and what I think you guys are talking about is called "Visual Snow". There is a community on Facebook of people with it.

I've been seeing this weird 'film grain' effect as well. Most, if not all my life. At least since elementary school. (I'm not sure if I had it before then or not.) I just been kindof tuning it out for years (just ignoring it. Though it is a lot more obvious when looking at a plain white wall, or a clear sky or in a dark room)
I got some bad anxiety problems as well, so I've been thinking about it more lately and worrying. I don't know if it has gotten a little bit worse in the past week or so, or if its just me worrying so much about it, that its all I can focus on. (I really hope its just me worrying too much)
Do you know if it can get worse? Or if I could ever go blind/partially blind because of this? Or is it all my anxiety issues making me worry?
Does this thing even have a name?
Thanks

HELLO! I understand this was posted two years ago, but I assure you I know this condition. Actually, it's not really a condition.

This is perfectly normal, and I have it too. Actually, everyone has it, but their brains just don't 'notice' it. I noticed it when I was five, and after sneaking around on the internet, I've discovered it's pretty rare for people. Like, one-in-a-billion-rare. But it's not a medical condition, and you have no need to see a neuro-ophthalmologist.

Ordinary people will never understand what we can notice, but it doesn't actually affect you. It annoys me too sometimes, but you just have to get used to it and forget. Our brains are amazing in that they filter it out, every human being has it filtered out in fact, but it's pretty easy to notice it again once you've seen it once. EVERYONE SEES IT, but they just don't notice.

Relax. It doesn't hinder a normal life. Trust me on that.

I have no idea of what you are describing.  Consider seeing a neuro-ophthalmologist.
