Silicone removal after Retina detachment surgery

I've had 2 retinal detachment surgeries.  First in December I had my

vitreous removed my retina reattached my eye was filled with gas.  About 3 weeks later it detached again.  I know have a buckle which will stay in but the will be removing the silicone after 4 months next week.  Does anyone know the recovery process?  Do they remove the eyelashes again.  How long till normal activity?  Any though are appreciated.

You can use the search feature and archives and read about RD surgery, gas and oil in the eye. When you do you will find it's very variable and impossible to generalize. It's not like cataract surgery which is usually pretty predictable. The amount of pain and discomfort varies. The oil may be left in the eye for months, years or indefinitely. The amount of vision you recover cannot be predicted, many eyes recover little if oil has to be used which is for the most severe. Your surgeon will need to advise you on activity, your surgeon decides whether eyelashes are removed. Just not possible to predict.
