vision problem with Restor IoL after cataract surgery

I'm writing this to ask a question, for advice, but also to vent my frustrations. I just found this website and  wonder if  problems with multifocal IOL occur more often than patients are led to believe?. I had cataract surgery with bilateral restor lenses, and adding insult to injury  I was told both eyes need to be done so they work together for best vision. It is 2 weeks since 2nd eye was done and while my distance vision is good, I am experiencing loss of sharpness of vision in all near and intermediate distances in anything but bright direct light. Anything in close to mid range varies in sharpness having degrees of some combination of fuzzy, double vision or blurriness, unless I wear reading glasses and add direct lighting such as from a flashlight. This is way more than reduced clarity in dim lighting. Does this contrast sensitivity problem get better with time or can it be remedied and if so how? My vision was better being nearsighted even with the cataract before surgery. The suggestion was by doing the surgery now I would benefit from not needing glasses or contacts which  no longer gave  comfortable vision (I'm  age 57 ) .Right now I'm very unhappy and feel misled with the inferred promises of vision using restor IOLs ,as this side effect was never mentioned when asking about possible risks. The Dr, who was well recommended, says he can fix this.              Any advice, insight or comments on similar experiences would be welcome

I found the study information and read it through. I  do have an appointment for the Dr to re- check my eyes, but will not agree to any invasive type correction procedures at this time. I was told  it sometimes takes time for  neural adaption with these lenses to occur. Is this true or just a put off? Can the eye drops used after surgery cause this fuzzy vision? if the problem is contrast sensitivity, can it diminish in time? any insight into these questions may help me decide what to do when I see the current Dr and then know if I need a second opinion, especially if the lenses need to be explanted-is this the only real solution to restoring vision? thank you for any specific information you can provide

This forum attracts unhappy people so we are skewed towards complications. Use the search feature, and archives and read about others with problems with the ReStor IOL.

Dr. Kutryb and I did a study of people coming to this forum seveal years ago and so called premium (multifocal accommodating IOLs) were more than 20 times likely to generate an unhhappy patient than monofocal. Suggest you get a second opinion
