one tube open...now what?

Back from HSG. I have one tube open and an appt to chat with the doctor. Anyone know where we go from here? Is it just more trying or do doctors get more aggressive with meds or WHAT?
Thanks
Jill

Do they do an ultrasound to decide which side you are ovulating from? I have an appt on Dec 26 to discuss what happens next.(Day before my period)  My dr has told me pre-HSG that I can go at my own pace with this. If I want to be agressive and not wait, that's okay. If I choose to go with a fertility med....doesn't having one tube decrease my chance of mulitples. (I hope!) Also do meds help you ovulate from both sides each month?
Thanks for all of your great advice and support!

Or maybe your tube was just spasming and it's not truly blocked. ..Ask about that!   They said my tube was blocked but I got pregnant 5 times (miscarried each time) but I still was getting pregnant.

Basically this just makes the process twice as long because you generally ovulate from one ovary.  So if you ovulate on the side that the tube is blocked, your just spinning your wheels.  I don't know that you alternately ovulate from one side each month.  Maybe the ovary on the block tube side ovulates 3/4 of the time, so that leaves you with only 3 months in a year you could get pregnant from the good side.   This just make the process doubly longer.

I had an HSG test last Tuesday.  They found that my left tube is blocked.  I am waiting to hear from my dr for more details as to what we will do next.  The radiologist said they most likely won't do anything though because I have one working tube :(  Hopefully our drs have some good advice on where to go from here...Good Luck!

One of my tubes is blocked. I have been with my Re for two cycles.  For both of those cycles, I have o'd from my bad side.  I am hoping that this cycle the correct side will get busy!

İ have only 1 tube due to an ectopic pregnancy 5 months ago.  They had to remove my left tube.  Most people dont ovulate one month from one side then the next month the other side (according to 3 different doctors ive seen since the operation).  İt just depends on which ovary produces the matured egg fastest and that will be the side that the egg gets released.  So it could be two months off of one side then the next month off the other side. There is no set rule, its just pot luck at which one gets matured first.  This is my 3rd month at ttc since the opertion and no luck yet.  The first 2 months i ovulated from side without a tube according to my doctor so im hoping this month i will ovulate from my other side.  But he also told me that it is very rare but the egg from one ovary can go down the other fallopian tube, so even if you feel cramps around ovulation time on your no tube (blocked) side dont give up that month because there is a rare chance that the egg will go to your working fallopian tube.  Good luck and i hope this helps.

I also only have one unblocked tube. My dr. just told us to keep trying for a few more months since I did have a good tube still. I got pregnant the first month of ovulating on my "good side" after the HSG, but it was a chemical - that was in October. That was encouraging for me, because although it wasn't a viable pregnancy, atleast I know that things are getting around in there. I believe women typically ovulate from each side every other month as mentioned before, but some women don't. I am going with the rule that I do and this will be my good month too! So, good luck to us both and may we both get BFP very soon.

Thanks for being so positive! My GYN is actually a RE also. Thank goodness. I wasn't sure how the eggs worked....if it was every other month or just whenever. If it is every other month for me, then this would be my good month to try (acccording to a June ultrasound). Wish me luck!

Hello! sorry to hear about your tube! well it depends... i would think if your not already seeing an RE and have been trying for a little while that you could do that now.. but the good news is that every other month you should be ovulating on your "good" side.. so it might take a little longer, but your chances are great!! If you go to your obgyn or an RE, they can monitor you for a few cycles and make sure that your good side is infact producing eggs, and which months it does produce that way you have a little better chance!! GOOD LUCK! : )
