I had an HSG a few months ago and still no luck with a BFP. Hopefully the house cleaning works for you!!
I just read that online somewhere today too... I was pretty excited about that... since I'm planning to go in for mine either this month or next - I hope it works! :)
How was your HSG on Friday? I hope it was not too painful for you!
My tech told me that HSG makes you more fertile for a few months; it's like a house cleaning. I hope it helps you to get that BFP!
I thought it would be no big deal, but found it painful! My tubes are clear. The part that hurt was when the insert the ballon into your cervix to ensure the catheter with the dye stays in place. It was only for a few seconds, but I broke out in a sweat and had even taken 4 advil an hour before. Just a heads up--everyone is different. I would definitely bring a pad, and not wear a long shirt, as the dye and blood can leak onto it.
You feel relief after having it done, merely so you have the info. Good luck,it'll be fine!
Don't worry. It is VERY quick. It'll be over before you know it. Mildly uncomfortable but not too bad.
thank you all for all the advice and support. I go in at 8:30 in the morning so I will let everyone know by the afternoon how it went. My step mother will be aiding in the test so I feel comfotable in knowing that she will be there.
ssbd to all!
everyone i talked to got me extremely nervous before i went and got my HSG. when i got it done...i remember thinking to myself "what were they all talking about?" i never took advil before and i felt no pain or cramping during or after the test. you get your results right then and there which is nice too. best of luck, i'm sure you'll be fine.
thanks so much for asking this question! i'm going to go in for the same test - just don't know when yet... i am a little scared and nervous too - so i'm glad to see the advil advice... good luck - and let me know how it goes!
For my HSG I got slight cramping when the dye went in but none afterwards. But I do suggest you eat something before you go because I didn't and I got extremely light headed and almost threw up...had to rest for about 20 mins before I could walk outta there. Good Luck!
Well, just remember to take the Advil before you go! My RE told me that most don't feel anything so I didn't take anything and regreted it! He had to stop twice because one side hurt really bad. It is quick so it's not too bad, but I got preggo 3 months later so it was worth it!! I think it cleared my tubes for me....
i had my hsg after a uterine biopsy. the ub hurt like hell!!!! the hsg didn't hurt me at all and i can't say if the cramping was from the ub or the hsg---- probably both! don't worry, you know the results imidiately and it is a very quick test--- best of luck to you :)

Please don't be aftraid. HSG is unpleasant but very quick. You will know results right after the test. Some ladies found it painful but I just thought that it felt like a bad AF cramp. If only one tube is blocked it's not a problem since all you need is one. If both are blocked you may need a lap or ivf. I had a lap few months ago so feel free to ask any questions if you need to go that route.
Good luck on Friday!!! I hope it's painless!!!
If they're block they'll probably want to do a laproscopy. I think that's what its called.
Hi Disney Chick,
Expect cramping, take advil if you can 30 minutes before and bring one of those period disposable hot packs to ease the cramping afterwards. Some people have no cramping, but better safe than sorry. Good luck!
