It's not really that big of a deal these days. They just help the fertilized egg break out of it's shell (usually with a laser). It's in case you have hard shelled eggs or older eggs (my case).
We had ICSI and assisted hatching for our 2nd IVF (now 16 weeks pg) I really believe that it was the assisted hatching that got us our BFP. Our place uses a jet of water however to do it, not a laser.
My clinic does the assisted hatching as part of their protocol. I think you should do it. It helps the embryos break out more easily.If that is a + for the treatment why not go for it?
