vaginal suppositories vs progesterone shots

Does anyone know if it's best to use progesterone shots rather than vaginal suppositories?   My body didn't respond well to the shots during my first IVF.  They were extremely painful and I could barely walk.

One of my REs (with a great international reputation)  believes that progesterone powder vaginally is more effective than shots due to the soft tissue pores that line the vagina

I had three successful pregnancies with the suppositories (and shots with 2 of them)

2 miscarriages with shots only!

OK. I think I can handle a little discharge if it's better.  Thanks for the advice. Good Luck!

I use the suppositories and I heard from my RE they are better dur to the do not have to go through your system before being absorbed. So you get all the meds right were you need them. They are a little messy but it is worth it! My sister did the shots and did not have success with them either. The supositories have to be made at a compunded pharmacy and should not be used if they are manufactured! They are not very effective and the use s different compund to make them. I have mine shipped due to I live in the mountains and use the pharmacy my RE trusts. They are made just for me. if you have any allergies they can use different cmpounds to help with that also. Mine puts something extra in them so I do not get dry from them. Best of luck

I am also using the suppositories and found out yesterday that we are pregnant! I don't really know if one is more effective than the other, but I have heard those shots are painful! Best of luck to you!!!

i have used both of them, and agree those shots hurt!!!! and when you get pregnant most people continue them till week 8-12 or so.. My dr was a fan of the suppositories, since it puts the medicine where it really is needed.. as much as i hated the discharge from the suppositories it was better than the shots in my opinion.. I think both work though.. but suppositories might actually be proven to be a touch more effective .. GOOD LUCK! : )
