Trying again after M/C with help from RE

I suffered a m/c at 8 weeks on 8/17 and had a d&c. After that my thyroid ballooned up and so I had a blood test and ultrasound, blood was normal, u/s showed just an enlargement and they suggested I see a  Reproductive Endocrinologist. We had our first appt yestarday and they threw so much at us!! They want to start me on Clomid the cycle we want to start trying and then do an HCG shot and then an IUI. Then put me on progesterone and to take loveonx injections throughout the pregnancy. Right now he put me on baby asprin and a low dose thyroid medicine since he thinks its the beginnings of hypothyroid (which runs in my family). They also took a bunch of blood from me and DH. I'm just confused b/c I ovulate regularly, have regular cycles and DH and I were able to conceive within 2 months before the m/c. So is all this stuff just a extra boost so I wont miscarry again or something? Has anyone else gone through all these procedures?

Sounds like they think you may have a clotting tendency. But did they test you for that? My friend lost 2 babies at around 8 weeks. She had clotting issues. I think (not sure) because at around 8 weeks the embryo starts to develop it's own connectors/blood vessels. She is now on heparin and is due in 3 weeks. Good luck.

Holy smokes!  They sure dont waste any time!  Are you able to seek out a second opinion?

Do you have good insurance coverage?  Because it seems like they are going a little overboard.  Why would a Clomid + HCG + IUI be necessary if you conceived on your own within 2 months last time?  Those things dont help a pregnancy stick, they just aid conception.

I could see them aggressively treating the thyroid disorder and medicating you to try to avoid future miscarriages, but it does seem like a little much.  IUI's arent cheap!

I think that you do have reason to be concerned.  I would get a second opinion if possible.

That is just my humble opinion.  Maybe there is more to the story than the RE let on.  Did you ask why they wanted to do IUI?  I know that when i go to the RE I get such "information overload" that I forget to ask all the important questions that I had wanted to ask!

Wishing you all the best,
