Clomid and no LH surge

Hi Girls! Well, I'm on my first cycle of clomid and all seemed to be going well.  I use the clearblue easy fertility monitor and last saturday (so for 6 straight days now) I received two bars.  In cycles up until this point I only have two bars for a two to three days then it goes up to three bars which is the peak and the LH surge.  Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this.  I'm suppose to have a progesterone test next week and that's suppose to be 7-8 days after LH surge but so far that hasn't even happend.  Earlier this week I had a follicle study and the results were ok and the doctor felt I should peak the next day from what she saw during exam. That was three days ago.  I called doc today and all she said was she can't explain what's happening and that seemed to be enough said even when I questioned it. She just moved my progesterone test to one day later. I just really don't want to be on this dose of clomid for the next few months if its not working right. Any ideas here? Thanks

Thanks for the info! I'm suppose to call doc again on monday if I haven't gotten a peak. Well see what she says then I guess. I would think it would be kinda late in the cycle for a shot if I'm not ovulating.  My doc had told me I didn't need to do BBT with the monitor but now I'm thinking I will start that up again next cycle cause then I would have back up method to compare to monitor. Thanks again!

btw, I forgot to mention I was also using the clearblue easy fertility monitor. I did get a peak reading the morning after the trigger shot, followed by a rise in temps.

I use the monitor with the first urine of the day. I didn't get Peak the first time around, but have seen Peak since. Even with the first clomid cycle not showing Peak, I was tracking my BBT, and it confirmed that I O'd... I just confused the monitor for a sec! You should call the 800 number for their customer service and have them read the script of why it does that... or it might be in the little manual. I would look, but I lost it quite a while ago! lol Baby Dust... Baby Dust... Baby Dust!!! :-)

I just did my 1st cycle of clomid last month. I also had not yet gotten the LH surge on day 17. My RE gave me a shot called Ovidrel to induce ovulation. He said that based on the size of my follicles (seen by ultrasound) I should have gotten the LH surge already. (I also went in around day 14 and he said it should happen within the next day or 2, and if I didn't get it in 3 days he would give me something to induce ovulation.) He said in some women clomid suppresses the LH surge, so they give a trigger for ovulation. I also had a very thin uterine lining on clomid (also seen on the ultrasound), which meant that the clomid was having other side effects on my hormones. I think the RE said that can be related to not getting the LH surge, too.

Thanks a ton! It at least eases my mind that something isn't completely wrong. Still no peak today, its only cycle day 17 so I guess I still could I've just never peaked this late always by day 14. And I've had the high bars for a whole week now. So, do you use monitor right when you wake up? My doctor said with clomid to use second urine. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with too. Besides that the fact that depending on schedule for the day it makes it a little harder to do this! Ha

Thanks again, though it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one. I do wish I would get a peak sometime at least. But nice to know there is possible explanation. We'll just keep going see what happens! Good luck to you too!

I have the monitor too. I actually worked in their call center, but forgot the script of why it does this. It has something to do with the clomid. Some people notice no change, others have increased number of high fertility days. I'm with ya! With clomid my monitor gives me 5-6 days of high fertility. It is rare, but the first cycle of clomid (and with the estrogen) it might shadow out the LH surge. If this happens, it usually is only the first clomid cycle. Remember that it compares the most recent 6 months to your current cycle to give u customized results. Sorry it happened. I know what its like to have a goal set and everything organized with no suprises, and then having an unexpected bump in the road. Hope this helped some. Good luck and Baby Dust!
