I have read reports that clomid should not be used long term so maybe that is why your doctor is hesitant to have you keep trying clomid. I would ask about moving to another medication. That will give you a much better shot than a natural IUI. I did two cycles with Femara and IUI with HCG trigger. The last one worked, but ended in a m/c. We took time off the meds and IUI's and ended up getting pregnant on our own. I think it was not stressing about the days, the office visits, etc.
alia82/realitychirsse-- Thanks for taking time to share ur stories...
alia82-- hope that your IVF will work the first time and gets u your bundle of joy!! SSBD!1
Thanks for ur replies..
Realitychrisse--Sorry i was not very clear with myearlier post.. My earlier doc, whom i was seeing until last month for 2 years, put me on a clomid and HCG(with u/s on cd13) and the progesterone suppositories from cd15. I did this for the last 3 months and just now we moved to our new RE., Who suggested just HCG shot+IUI.
The prob i have is, i dont know if i will ovulate on my own without clomid. and when i was on clomid i always had 1-2 good size follices evry month. but my doc never agreed for IUI. I have been charting before and i know that my ovulation date is nevr the same, its cd10 somtimes and cd22 someother time.. thats the reason my doc put me on clomid in the first place. Now that we are doing an IUI, I want to ensure that i have atleast 1 good follicle at the time of the IUI. Thats why i want to continue clomid this month again... i tried reaching the RE, but i m unable to contact her.
My gut feeling says that, if i get take clomid and have 1 follcile atleast and HCG Shot+IUI, .. Would def give me a better chance then just IUI.
your story is truly motivating to keep me going and i think i am going to take clomid this cycle, but i dont know what my RE is gonna say, because i will meet her only some time next week and would have started clomid by then.
my dr always used to put me on clomid ijuctions and hcg then iui always like that i tried it for almost 6 cycle and none of them get me a BFP so now we are moving to IVF hope its work from the first time :) wish you luck and about taking a clomid along with iui i would really recomend that but it your RE did not tell you that than she/he must have her/his opinion on your health situation .
Stop being confused, I went through a year of intense fertility treatment IUI, Puregon, prednisone, progesterone, clomid, femara you name it I did everything I was told for exactly 344 days.
We said we would try everything for a year and if none of it worked we would take money out for IVF and PDG (PDG is for checking the embryo before it is implanted for any defects) this was necessary as my DH has a problem with one his chromosome 10. Our chance for conceiving naturally was 8% every month.
I am now pregnant and did not have to resort to IVF, because it is expensive and invasive and risky. I would have done it, I was planning to do it had already planned to take money out from the mortgage to finance the procedure then boom conceived with the help of IUI...I think.
#1 I am going to tell you to know your body, I always felt I ovulated early since this was my last time doing an IUI, I decided I had nothing to lose.
I lied and said I was on my Day 3 when it was my Day 2, I took the femara early on Day 2, had sex the day before my HCG shot and had one IUI the next day and sex 12 hours later the day of the IUI. I have never, ever done this the entire year I was there. The entire time he wanted to wait, wait another day saying he doesn't feel right, well I listened to him for a year and was plannong to do IVF next month so I had nothing to lose.
Guess what, after months of doing the exact same thing and now being familiar with the entire process I altered the process for me and it worked. If I had awaited the one day which he wanted me to and done two IUI's I would not be pregnant and I would be out around $750.00.
#2 If CLOMID works for you go for it, it did not work for me...femara and Puregon for multiple eggs were better for me. The problem for me wasn't producing eggs it was my husbands translocation on Chromosome 10.
Get the HCG shot and an IUI, also if you can be intimate that night after the IUI and two days prior to the HCG.
This worked for me, after a year of trying I just had a nagging feeling I ovulate early.
3 natural cycles for IUI seems quick when the next step is IVF.
Clomid if you react well to it, go for it and the HCG and the IUI. You will get pregnant if all is timed perfectly.
