Day 5 Transter question

Hi, we used an egg donor and last Saturday was my transfer (day 5) today, Monday, I took a pregnancy test and it's Negative. Is this really true? My official bloodwork is on August 8. It's just really sad and frustrating after all the excitement, preparation and expense. 2 embryo's were transfered. Not sure what to expect and I'm still on bedrest. Please provide your experience/expertise.

Did you do a 3 day or a 5 day transfer?  It may be just toooo early to test....Sending you tons of baby dust!!! : )

WAY TOOO early to test! If you did a day 5 transfer and your beta is on the 8th... I'd say test with a hpt no EARLIER than Sat/Sun for best results. Even then your levels might be too low to register so if the hpt is still negative- don't lose hope! Beta is the most accurate! SSBD!

This information will probably be helpful to you.  It sure was to me when I was in your same boat! :)  We also transferred a day 5 blast.  Now we're 26 weeks pregnant!

What Happens After an Embryo Transfer?

Once you complete your embryo transfer, you will have approximately 1½ weeks to wait before a pregnancy can be detected. The following tables outline an approximate timeline for what happens during a successful pregnancy after a 3-day transfer (3dt) and a 5-day transfer (5dt).


3-Day Transfer

One
The embryo continues to grow and develop, turning from a 6-8 cell embryo into a morula

Two
The cells of the morula continue to divide, developing into a blastocyst

Three
The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell

Four
The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus

Five
The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation

Six
Implantation continues

Seven
Implantation is complete, cells that will eventually become the placenta and fetus have begun to develop

Eight
Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) starts to enter the blood stream

Nine
Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted

Ten
Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted

Hi. Thanks for that info. I'm on my second cycle.this time done 5 day transfer last wednesday.felt nauseous n had cramps few days ago then today nothing. Silly me done home preg test yesterday n showed negative.I'm so nervous n anxious.this wait is so torturous.I'm praying for positive result on saturday.

One of the reasons I shared the information above is because I was so crazy nervous during the tww.  Our first round of IVF didn't work, so it made me EXTRA nervous the second time, after our frozen transfer.  I tested too early (on day 5) and got a negative result and was devastated.  So my friend sent me the info above.  And come to find out, my beta was positive!  And now we're 26 weeks pregnant!  So don't worry too much if you test soon and you get a negative result.  (ALthough that's SO much easier said that done!!)  Lots of love!

Thank you all for your responses. Congrats Vanishree! Worththewait78, I'm with you, it is indeed nerve wracking and exciting at the same time. We've been trying for 8 years, was on clomid, did several IUI's and now finally this IVF via donor. I am truly praying that we would have our babies - they transferred 2 so 1 baby would be a blessing and 2 would be a double blessing. The wait is just....arrrggg..... Sending you all possitive thought and worththewait78 hoping for a positive result.

We have been trying for about 7 1/2 years... so I feel your pain!  I cannot wait to do my transfer!  We are using donor embyos.  Hopefully we both be posting BFP's!!!  My transfer is Aug 30.  We will be transferring 2 also!!  I would love to have twins! : )

Thanks again, and just another question please, I have been on patches (4 every other day) and on promethium (3x/day)...After my transfer and lately, I feel some cramps and my breasts are painful. Are these normal or caused by my meds?

Yes, the 2 ww is soooooo difficult.  But hang in there and listen to your body.  Taking the tests too early leave you wondering and questioning.  So do the best you can to stay calm and busy.  I go in today for my transfer and I cooked all day yesterday to just stay away from the "what ifs".

Oh, I am on the vivelle dot patch, every other day, Estrace 3x a day and progesterone oil shots everyday before 9am, all I am feeling is FAT!  I feel like I have gained 10 lbs.  All in my waistline and butt.  Anyone else feel this way from any of these meds?  I am worried they aren't working, because I don't feel much different other that the weight.

Yes, the progesterone will give you symptoms of pregnancy.  Cruel joke huh? Anyway, this could be your babies implanting, or just symptoms of the meds.  I am going to bet on the embies though!!!!  Hang in there! : )

Yes! I too do feel fat. I have been eating a lot. Can't even wear my bra because it hurts my breast. I will endure this to have a positive result :)
I do hope it's them. My beta is on Monday. Positive thoughts please :)

Well you are definitely getting positive thoughts.  Do you feel any symptoms yet?  Did you do a HPT?  I am not sure I will be be able to wait after day 7, though I know I did it last time and was disappointed I did. Got a BFN, and it then upset me and had me pretty upset.  So not sure if I will do it again.  

I am now on day 2 of bed rest.  So just hanging out watching tv today and reading and catching up on whatever can be done from the couch.  Let me know how you are feeling.
Any cramping or feeling tight?  Spotting?  Those are still signs of pregnancy when some feel it is their period coming.

Monday is right around the corner! : )  I have never done a HPT, I always wanted to stay pregnant until I was told otherwise : )  Even on my first round that was BFP, I "knew" I was pregnant, I just knew... and still wouldn't take a hpt... I just waited for the beta.  The nurse was so suprised! haha!  Too bad I m/c'd.  Oh well, on to the next try.  I will most likely not test this time either.  But, this will be my first chance with 2 blasts to transfer... so I am feeling really good about that!

I cannot wait for you to update on Monday!  I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!  And I will send you a mountain sized amount of baby dust!!!! : )

Hi Ladies!
I had a blood test this morning at 8a and the nurse called at around 1:30p I told her not to tell me until we have my husband on the phone but he was in a meeting so after 30 minutes of wait, we finally were on a conference call and guess what? I'm pregnant! My HcG is at 95, they will do another blood test in 2 days to see. Yay!!! Thanks for the baby dust and positive thoughts, please keep them coming and sending a lot your way as well ladydi03.

Failed my second cycle was so devastated, but my partner n friends were so comforting. Hope all goes well for you gal friends. Im gonna do another cycle and hoping so much fot a good outcome.

I am so sorry to hear that, you are in my prayers and hoping that the second cycle would be a success.

I had a good # during my second hcg test. When my husband asked if we could celebrate, the nurse said to wait until the ultra sound because things can still go wrong. So we are continuing to pray, this time until the 23rd.

Hi all. Ive had my 3rd cycle of 5th day embryo implantation yesterday. Having some bed rest positive thinking but still so nervous,so want this work out. Had my eggs retrieved last wednesday nd still having some discomfort on L side, just feels strange as never this painful b4!
