HCG injection by mistake

Hi,

My wife has been given a HCG injection on Day 3 of her cycle by mistake, instead of the FSH injection.
Can anyone please help with the possible consequences?
Would this have a serious impact on our chances to conceive?

Any help would be great

Thanks

My hcg shots have always been given subcutaneously in the belly just like fsh, so I think it is likely that her body absorbed the whole dose. I would guess that it might delay her cycle by a week or 10days until the hcg is out of her system. As happynfer suggested,  charting and opks might help you figure it out. Good luck!

they should still mature and she should ovulate, but it may have reset her timing...so it may be a weird cycle.
definitely recommend doing opks and charting to help figure out if and when she ovulates this cycle so you are not driving yourselves batty if she is "late" and you are testing negative.

Thanks a lot Happynifer for your reply.
The doc suggested not to continue on any of the fertility inducing meds for this cycle and just try norrmally.
But we wanted to know if the follicles would still mature and ovulate?

hopefully it won't do anything.  I am assuming it was given under the skin (subcutaneously) like the FSH is supposed to be rather than in the muscle (IM) like the hcg is supposed to be?
that would slow down absorption enough that it likely didn't do much.
also, being only day 3, she should not have anything resembling a dominant follicle to trigger to ovulate, so you should also be fine.
definitely talk to your doctor though as they may plan on a longer stim

Thanks a lot kaliahnasmumma for your reply.
Wanted to know if this would suppress this cycles ovulation or alter the period cycle timeline?
Would she have a very early period this cycle?

Thanks
