Failed IVF

I found out last Tues that I am miscarrying.  I was just under 5 weeks pregnant.  The bleeding started last Thurs, light at first but now very heavy.  How long will it last?

Thanks for the encouraging words. Wonderful success stories really helped to raise my hopes. I will see my RE on 30 Jun and then should decide what my next step would be. I read that there are people getting pregnant right after the miscarriage, I hope I am that lucky too.  I am still having very very light spotting now - 12 days after my miscarriage..hopefully, all will be well real soon.

I am now considering should i try naturally or go right ahead for my 2nd IVF. I still hv 2 frozen embyro but it has been like 1 mth, not sure how the quality would be, cos I heard fresh embyro is still the best for IVF...

I pray that all of us will have our hearts desired fulfilled and we'll be holding wonderful babies in our arms soon..

Thankyou for such kind words of encouragement, the support these posts give are really comforting and DO help, we are not alone in what we're going through. I know october seems along way away but it will come round soon, check theres no way you can start maybe in september if your period returns regularly. My friend also had miscarriage at 17 weeks, had d&c, and found it alll very traumatic but started next cyce of ivf after 3 mths, she is now pregnant with twins due october! I know everyones body is different, my dr said we could start the next ivf straight away if I was mentally ok to do so but we wanted to try naturally for couple months which hasnt worked so start our second ivf in 2 weeks.it will be our last as so expensive and we've used all savings,Best wishes to you and everyone else trying to have a baby, don't give up anyone, I have read so many wonderful success stories on this forum. keep updating it does help! lots love melissaxx

I too conceived through my 1st IVF attempt and sadly miscarried at 16 weeks on 6/11.  I know the grieving/healing process takes time and I dread the wait time.  Nevertheless, I must be in the best physical/mental shape possible to continue. It looks like I will have to wait until October to begin a new cycle:(  My RE is booked up for the next 3 months. It seems like forever but it will be here in no time. In the meantime, Im trying so hard to stay positive. It gets difficult sometimes but I talk it out with DH, cry, pray, anything I can to get through. I continue to read the various posts and the success stories are a great motivator and I am inspired and feel blessed by others. My heart goes out to all of you. I'm praying for us and successful pregnancies. Whatever your protocol, IUI, IVF, DE, FET, surrogates, adoption etc...It's going to take time but I know we will have our hearts desire. Hang in there...

After reading this, I realised I am not alone. I was on 1st IVF om May 10 , tested positive on May 26, all this while, I had spotting and occasional strains on blood, I was given Doc's advice to walk less and rest more. But on Jun 6, I had heavy bleeding and few days later,  lost the 2 sac (supposedly twins). I was so disappointed and sad. I had opt for natural miscarriage (which means no washing) and still am having spotting at this time. When is the best time to try IVF again?

To be frank, I have no confidence to try again..

I'm sorry.  You had what is called a 'chemical pregnancy'.  I had one last month also.  The bleeding lasts about as long as a regular period.  I think mine was 6-7 days.  The first 3 days were really heavy, then the 4-5th day were medium-light, and then days 6-7 were fairly light (just needed a pantyliner).

hello and very sorry again that you are going through an awful time. I still think back to my mc and wondered did I lift too much, was it over doing things as my dr did say to take it easy and rest but I didnt and rushed around like a madwomen. my husband tells me not to blame myself but I will never know, any way like yourselves we have to pay and it will take all our savings, is so expensive and more so for me as I am older 40 and need more stimms to produce the follies(i only produced 6 last time) but like my dr said you only need 1 egg to produce the embryo.so we will begin ivf again very soon, best wishes to you when you go down this route again, keep me posted lots love melissax

Thank you for your message.  Bleeding seems to be stopping after 7 days.  I wish you all the very best for your cycle.  We will try again but do worry about the expense, which also doesn't help.  Keep me posted x

hello,  thats really encouraging  to hear and congratulations to you! I'm apprehensive and cautious having had early miscarriage, I know lots of women do go on to have normal pregnancies, we just pray that Il be one of those in a few weeks after the ivf. best wishes to you melissax

sorry you are going through this...
the bleeding and cramping lasted 5 days and then i spotted for another week after that.
take heart that most early m/c are due to chromosomal abnormalities and that most go on to have healthy pregnancies afterwards.
i had 3 early m/c and am now 12 weeks 5 days pregnant.

Hello firstly I am so sorry you are going through what I did back in april, its so horrible as there is NOTHING you can do to stop/prevent it happening. My bleeding lasted 6-8 days, wasnt that heavy after day 4, its just an awful thing to deal with especially as you're only just getting used to the fact you are pregnant.we are going for second cycle(and last as cant afford anymore)in 2 weeks. I am trying to be positive, just because  I had early miscarriage then doesnt mean it will happen again.best wishes to you and for the future in what ever road you decide to go down. keep me posted lots love melissax
