I have had acupucture on a weekly basic for the past one year prior to IVF, (Yes every week, sometimes twice a week $$$$) hoping for a higher pregnancy, he's also a recommended doctor which have treated some infertility patients.
It didn't work for us the first IVF and we are on our second attempt. I guess what I am trying to say is that it's no harm from the treatment. It may or may not work on some people, but it does help with menstrual.
We asked our RE and he said IVF is already costly, but if you have extra $ to spend, we may with with our choice but it won't really matter.
We stopped completely now. Good luck!
I started accupuncture fairly close to my first failed IVF. I am going through stims right now and have been doing acupuncture throughout. I am HOPEING this will help and EVEN if it doens't, it is one hour of peacefulness for me. I LOVE IT. I too have to go BEFORE and AFTER retreival and transfer. I have been going weekly. If it doesn nothing else, it is a nice naptime!!! (I usually sleep for part of the hour!)
I also had accupuntcure done and got pregnant the following month by miscarried.
I took acupuncture treatment for infertility as my FSH was high. Presently using chinese herbal medicine. My periods were very regular prior to the treatment. But now, the cycle is reduced (only 12 days as compared to 25 days previuosly) and bleeding is continuing for past 10 days and estradiol level has shot up to 650!(normally it lasts only 5 days for me). Can anybody advise the reason for this. I am very worried and scared
Does anyone think that Acupuncture can help with IUI and Stims??
I did 4 treatments, the last one being the day before IUI. Does the circulation to the uterus help ovulation and fertilisation?
Anybody heard of Weiping Wang in Maple Glen, PA? Is she good?
Thank you
You mentioned high and low blood pressure. Do you know any thing about low blood pressure and infertility? My Acupuncturist told me that I have very low blood pressure.
So I found this site for those of you that don't know who to use http://www.acufinder.com/.
March 13...is that your b-day? It's mine...and you live on Long Island...weird...
Hello everyone! I have decided to do acupuncture too. I have never even thought about doing it till now. BabyforLori thanks for all that info, those are some really good questions to ask. I really didn't even know where to begin. I will meet with my RE to discuss the third IVF cycle on 9/20. I'm not sure when we plan to do it but I am thinking maybe November. MAR13 it is good to hear from you. Good luck, SDScientist.
Not sure where you live but I know a guy in Smithtown....is that close to you? If so I will give you his name. My friend Swears by him and she just got preg...she was on Clomid and has PCOS...it worked for her...let me know
I'm so glad everyone is so excited about acupuncture. I live in Long Island and wanted to find someone close to home. Can MAR13 and ashort recommend anyone? I really appreciate everyone's input on this. I have been seriously considering this over the past few days.
Hi I know we are in the same town and I was wondering if you would'nt mind recommending your accupuncturist, mine is very far away, although she is good, I would really like one close by, any recommendations.
Hi. I was wondering how you were doing. I have being seeing a fertility acupuncturist since our first cycle failed in May. It is very relaxing. Also, I no longer have AF cramps...none! She is going to be there to do a before and after treatment for my ET on 9/1. Have you had yours do the ear points? Do the ear points, they are very relaxing.
I live on Long island too. My friend just got pregnant after starting acupuncture...she has PCOS and was on Clomid...now she's 11 weeks preg. She's been trying to get me to do it...it's my dh's friend...soooo he's not crazy about me seeing him...I think maybe I should.
Who are you using on Long Island?
Sorry, I should have spelled it out. ART is short for Assisted Reproductive Treatment.
I would recommend asking the following questions:
Are you specialize in acupuncture associated with ART?
Do you offer nutritional instruction? This is important because if you have any thyroid issues or high/low blood pressure, eating the proper foods are vitual while you are trying to conceive. I did not know that certain foods (like even salad) can affect your success rates if you have any of the above mentioned conditions. It is something in how your body process the food....
What is your COMPLETE plan (beginning to end) for me in conjunction with next IVF cycle? The reason I would ask this question is because, during different parts of the IVF cycle, the acupunturist will want to open and focus on certain qi. E.i., during the stimulation part of IVF, they focus heavily on circulating flow to the abdominal region for the ovaries and uterus. Or at least, this is what they did for me. One important session was right after I had the embryo transfer, my acupuncturist insisted that I needed a treatment right after. She said this one treatment was as important as all the prior treatments. I assume this was the case because of the implantation factor.
Finally, I would recommend a very high end pre-natal vitamin. The one that I take is made by Metagenics. They are expensive - I think it costs about $70 for a month supply, but I found them to be of excellent quality. I got that price from my acupunturist, so, I am sure there was a mark-up.
The part of this process that I truly found most helpful was the breathing exercises. Breathing through your belly, not through your chest. This helps to relieve all the stress which goes along with trying to conceive and managing your already busy life. The proper breathing increases blood flow throughout your entire body and keeps your qi open. I would recommend asking if they have any yoga and breathing DVD's which you can purchase. These DVD's should be geared towards women TTC. If they don't, I help you get the one that use.
If you have any questions, please feel free to post and I will answer them the best that I can. But, I hope this helps you out in the meantime.
This man is treating my friend for a brain tumor and we can really see the improvement. The doctors and the medication didn't help her and he actually is taking the pain away from her. I don't know how familiar he is with the infertility treatment I am going to ask him all these questions you mentioned. He said that he does acupunture for fertility problems so I will see on Saturday. Beside his big titles ;-) profesor of this and that ;-))), his carries his practice from his father.
Thank you!!!! I would really really appreciate that!!! I do very much so believe in acupuncture...only because I've used it and it has worked for other things. I had HORRIBLE sinus problems...to the point where the dr. said I needed surgery (didn't believe in alternative therapy). I decided it wouldn't hurt to try and guess what, not a sinus problem since!! It's also worked on pulled muscles and helped with circulation problems I've had since I was little. So I am definitely a believer.
I am glad this helped. I have to tell you both, I was very skeptical when I first began this treatment. I actually thought it was probably just another group that was going to charge me a lot of money and probably was not going to do me any good. HOWEVER, based on our success, even my husband (who is by nature a VERY skeptical person) believes they helped to contribute to our success. But, there are a lot of frauds out there. And, with infertility increasing almost daily and women feeling almost desperate to do anything and/or pay anything for a better chance at conception, some people will take advantage of you. So please, be cautious. Make good decisions. Ask a lot of questions. And, if your gut is telling you it doesn't sound right, then, it probably isn't. Go look somewhere else.
I have an appointment tomorrow with the director of Pulling Down the Moon. She is my therapist. I will ask her if she recommends anyone in the Jersey area, in the event that you may not have heard back from someone right away.
Good luck to you both. Please, keep in touch.
Thanks for all the info!! I did email the group you mentioned to see if they could possibly recommend someone in my area (NJ/PA). It's a shot in the dark, but I figured it was worth a try.
Sounds like you both have already done your homework and know much more than I when I first started. I will pray for you for blessings. And, if you have ANY questions, please please don't hestitate to ask. I am happy to share all that I know.
