Fertility after depo

I'm 17 and have been going out with my boyfriend for a year now, we didn't like using condoms so I got the 3 month depo shot and afterwards after talking to friends I have heard of people having miscarriages, trouble getting pregnant and problems with periods after being on the depo shot. I am really worried about this as I didn't hear about any of these issues until I spoke to my friends after and I'm worried about getting pregnant in the future with my boyfriend it would be heartbreaking to get pregnant and then find out I've miscarried. Has anyone heard this about the depo or experienced it themselves?
Please help.

It does cause problem with fertility it takes years after your last shot to conceive. But your 17 so if you stop now and get on the pill by the time your really ready you should be fine.

They usually wont say much about side affects but do more research online about other safer options.

Oh right okay thank you I'm going to make an appointment to discuss it but dunno if I should talk to a Dr or nurse and I knew about the brittle bones but had to find everything else out for myself I didn't even get any leaflets of them I had to go to my college nurse for information before I got it and even then the leaflet said nothing about side effects.

I don't think your male Dr really knows what it does to your body. I was on depo for 3 years I have been off for 2 years now me and my hubby still haven't conceived. Like I've said it messes with your body entirely to much, not only will it give you fertility issues but it also cause brittle bones it is not safe to be on. Switching to another form of birth control is really the best option.

Thank you I did discusse birth control with my Dr and because of my age and being the first time on birth control he said it was the best one for me.
Thank you.

There might be other birth control that you can try as an alternative to the pill.  You might want to discuss this with your obgyn.

Good luck!

Ok thanks and I've only had my first shot so wouldn't go off anytime soon well not until I'm getting married as I would only try to get pregnant after marriage. I can't remember to take the pill and am sexually active with my boyfriend of 1 year that's why the Dr told me to get the depo in the first place.
