Curious

Just curious, how long on average does the BBT stay elevated after ovulation? Today is the 8th day mine has been elevated. Last month it hit 98.6 but the next day dropped and I started my period a couple days later, but this month when it hit 98.6 it dropped the next day to 98.1 and today is back up to 98.4. I am trying not to get my hopes up but it has me very curious on how long it can stay up even if I am not pregnant.

it can go up & down in the LP of your cycle, as long as it doesn't go below your cover line, thats normal.  But like last month for you, if your not pg, then it drops a day or so before AF ;(
If you are pg, then it stays up through out your pregnancy.  It's the higher levels of progesterone that make your temps rise, estrogen will make your temps lower to bring on AF, so the whole process can start all over again......the lower temps is what the follies need to grow in.
Good luck ;o)

Also, to add a little it ita's post - a normal luteal phase is about 14 days (+/-) and your luteal phase should not change too much in length from month to month.

So your temperature should stay elevated for somewhere around 14 days if you are not pregnant.  I think they say that a good hint that you are pregnant is a bbt that stays high for longer than 18 days.
