OPK Question

If you used an OPK and detected your surge, then tested again the next day and it was negative, does that mean you ALREADY ovulated?  AND if you did already ovulate, how long is the egg viable?  I know the OPK shows ovulation is going to come 12-48 hours later...but I wasn't sure if the negative following the surge meant it was too late.

Here's the background if you want to read it...I got my positive at noon yesterday.  DH was unable to flippin perform last night due to a cold and cold meds.  Grrrr....we tried so long and so hard and he just couldn't do it!  :(   :(  :(  Are you kidding me!!?!?!?!??!?!  All that money and stress waiting for my surge and then NOTHING.  Anyway, I am just wondering if we are too late to try this month if the OPK isn't as dark today as yesterday.  It's still pretty dark, but not quite as dark as yesterday.

We BD Sunday morning, Monday night, none last night (surge day!) , but we are going to try again tonight.  I just didn't know if it was too late.  :(  *sigh*

Oh, and even if you did ovulate the same day as the surge, the egg is still viable for 12-24 hours, so you'd still have a chance. But most probably today is your ovulation day :-)

It's probably not too late! Most women ovulate the day after the positive OPK, and the fact that it was negative today doesn't affect that. Best of luck tonight!!!
