What should I do

Hi,

I am 39 and on day 12 of my second cycle of clomid.  My partner has low sperm count and we have be trying for about 9 months.

First cycle got 1 follicle, but it was on the left side, which is blocked.  So no  use.

Anyway now 2nd cycle at 50 mg/day plus oestrogen.  I did  u/s today.  There are 3 dominant follicles on the right.

We were planning on doing a trigger shot and IUI.  However, I am really scared of having more than 1 baby.  Two could be manageable, but 3 would not be good at all and too risky.

So I am trying to see what I should do, trigger and iui, or trigger and do it naturally, or just try naturally.  Waiting for feedback from my Obe.  Am so nervous about this now....

IUI this morning.  First DH had to produce the sample.  Then I dropped DH home and went for a pedicure.  Then I went back to the hospital.  First they did quick u/s to check status.  We found out the endometrium was 9 mm and I was ovulating, and three follicles.

Then they did the iui.  The most uncomfortable part was the speculum.  THen I had to stay lying down for 1 hour.

They asked me to bd tonighted (at 36 hours) and again tomorrow morning to further increase prospects.

So I'm now on the 2WW!

Doc said all looked as good as it could possibly be.  So now just wait and see if it worked.  And how many!

Hi Mellie,

I get monitored by U/s at least day 12 of the cycle to see how many follicles I have, which side they are on (only my right tube is open) and their size.

Last cycle I ovulated on left side, so we just did it naturally as chances were very low.

This cycle I have 3 follicles on right side (check this yesterday - day 12).  I was given an injection of HCG this morning (today is D13) to stimulate ovulation within the next 24 hours, and tomorrow they will do IUI.  My partner has to give them a fresh sample at 8:30 am tomorrow.  They will then process it and I have to go in at 10 am for the IUI.

Because my issue with getting pregnant is contributed by low sperm count of my partner, we are monitoring everything closely to maximise the chances of success.

how do you know you got it on one follicle. i've been on clomid for 5 months and all my doctor does is test to see if i ovulate on day 21 and then if my levels rise tells me whether to test or not on day 28???? Do I need to be doing something else that I dont know about. Just curious as to how you know this since im trying to conceive through clomid too due to no ovulation with hashimotos

hi,

there are side effects to the clomid. Much more abdominal pain and cramping than without it.  Symptoms of 'pregnancy' like nausea and feeling icky can also be the clomid.

Good luck to you both,
Have just finished 1st round of 50mg Clomid, also had a jab of Oestrogen.  I've been feeling icky and don't know if it's the side effects to the Clomid or i'm pregnant??, did u get any side effects??
