I know this is my third post, but could someone explain to me the LH surge

I am sorry to be posting so many different questions, but this is the first month that I have done anything concerning the LH surge and I want to make sure that I don't miss it!  The doctor, from the u/s appt. yesterday, felt pretty strong that I would surge today.

I am not sure, but I thought that my afternoon cheapie OPK was a positive, but when I used the digi, it was negative.

So, a couple of questions....

1) How long does the LH level stay high once 'the surge' happens? Is it a one-time deal, if I miss the test?
2) If I 'surge' tonight, should I bd tonight, tomorrow night, or Thursday night?
3) I know that the LH surge happens 24-36 hours before you ovulate, but what exactly happens? Does the hormone level increase for a "moment" and then it's 24-36 hours from that "moment"?

I know that these may sound silly, but I don't really get how it works, and can't find anything specific on the Internet!

Nothing is shore, but if you had ovulation test-and you tried...then the answer could be-yes you might be pregnant. I had my test this month and we tried but I got my period earlier-don't know why, but that's life....probably. Just stay positive and keep trying!!!!!! Good luck!!!!

I BD on Friday mid morning .. I tested or LH surge Monday at 6:am..I tested again at 9:00am and Detected LH surge.. Can I be pregnant?

Hey!! In my experience when I get a positive surge and still take surge tests after that they continue to show a positive result for days after so you wont really get a pos one day and a neg the next. It is also commmon for you not to ovulate a month (if you are not on meds to make you o) I didn't o the month of Feb. It's just nature that something doesn't work out with the follicle and the ovarie doesn't release one that month. During my fertile time my doc said to BD every 36hrs but that was without surge predictors. With opk's when i detect the surge I ovulate 24hrs later so the sperm needs to already be there. Morning sperm is the best!!! If you surge tonight I would BD first thing in the morning. If you surge in the morning I would BD that evening and again in the morning. But If you are like me getting woke up early before my DH goes to work BDing is the last thing on my mind sleep takes over and forgets how important BDing is a that time(plus I am kinda ill when I get woke up early). I believe that your surge is supposed to last for about 12 hours and increases throughout the day.  It's possible when you took the digi, your pee was just too diluted.  Try waiting at least 4 hours.

Once you get the surge - it's "go time"!  Semen can last in the body 3 - 5 days and the trick is to get them there waiting for the egg.  The egg only lasts about 12 hours.  As long as your DH has no issues, there's no reason not to BD every day.  You can also try checking out sperm meets egg plan.
