My dosage was: 225 IU of Gonal-F (this is FSH) and 75 IU of Menopur (this is a mix of FSH and LH). I had 15 mature eggs.
Of course, different people respond very differently to the same protocol. Some of my friends had a lower dosage and produced more eggs while others had much higher dosage but had fewer eggs. So, you never know...
Thanks Helen - i didnt realise that the number of days before transfer makes a difference too.
Yup they are strict here. I have to go to counsellling some time in the next 2 weeks before we start.
Also with IUIs my FSH dosage varied from 75-150 and i responded so poorly on them. what were yours like? And how many eggs did they get?
Dee,
my RE was willing to transfer 2 embryos on day 5 but 3 on day 3. We ended up with 3 transferred embryos on day 3. Embryo quality is also taken into account.
Note that Australia has very strict standards and your RE may not be willing to transfer more than 1 or 2 in some cases.
Thanks so much for you comments.
Tina - when will you most likely start your meds? I think i might be still a month away as I have had to transfer clinics etc.
lmcrt - your comments tie in with what I have been reading. I am 34 and i think I would do 2. I hope you are right up there with the success rates - thats great stats!
The protocal at my office is as follows
35 or younger......Recommened only 1 embryo and 2 at the most.
36-40yrs old........2-3 embryos
over 40........3-4 embryos
success rates vary with age and the office.
I'm 31 and the success rate for my age group is 47% and then this goes down after 35.
I am just now getting started with my plans for my 1st IVF attempt. I asked my dr that question (from my list of a million), mine said the most he will transfer is 3-4 depending on the age of the woman.
