Is four months of Lupron Depot, instead of six, OK?

Hi I recently had surgery due to a large cyst on my ovary, and they ended up removing the cyst AND my ovary...and my doctor found pretty bad endometriosis. She told me to do 6 months of the Lupron Depot shot (I'm not sure what the dosage is but I get the shot once a month), then try for a baby when I'm finished. I'm just wondering what anyone thinks about just doing 4 months of Lupron instead of 6? We're really anxious to start trying for a baby, we've never tried before so I don't even know if we'll have a hard time conceiving. And I'm worried that some of the side effects will be irreversible, like the bone loss. Also, how long has it taken for people's periods to return so they could start trying to conceive? And does anyone know if you're supposed to wait a certain amount of time after the injections to get pregnant? I read somewhere that you should wait 6 months because it could be harmful to the fetus. Thank you!

Hi CJane, I took 3 months of Lupron Depot (injected intramuscular by RN every month) for a negative integren (protein) that was absent in my uterus.  This was found by a uterine biopsy.
During those 3 months, you can expect to not get a period, have dry skin and hair, but the REAL FUN starts with the HOT FLASHES!!!   For the most part, my moods were not erratic.  I just was happy when the 3 months were finished, but I will tell you my periord did not come back for almost 3 months after I stopped the Lupron.  That was not what they told me in the beginning, but then one of the nurses at my RE's office commented on "Oh no (laugh out loud) nobody every gets a period within 30 days of finishing Lupron!"  (RN looks at patient as if patient has second head)  "It's more like 60-90 days"  I remember that perfectly.

I'm just trying to tell you how it was for me.  There were days I took two showers, but, hey I'm living in FL and hot flashes and humidity are not fun.  Keep your mind focused on the end result and they will fly by!  Good Luck!
