Military insurance

Does anyone else have tricare insurance through the military? I wanted to know what all you have done fertility wise that has been covered. So far mine has only covered everything up till the clomid. I cant even get ultrasounds covered. Does anyone have there RE covered by tricare? I dont know what I am going to do if the clomid doesnt work for me. I only have 3 more months to take it. And I am not even ovulating with it. Thanks for your help.

My doctors are all military-it is easier than going to a civilian doctor and then trying to get things covered.  My military ob referred me to the military RE.  We are lucky in that the main military hospital is right near us, and this is where all the specialists are.  Is your doctor civilian and you are just trying to get things covered?  Maybe it is different since I go directly to a military doctor?  If you go directly to a military doctor and things still aren't being covered than I would contact Tri Care directly and find out what is going on.  I can't imagine that the coverage is different than mine if you are going to a military doctor.

I think I have tri-care prime to. How is it that you got it covered? Did you just go or did you see your primary dr and he refered you? Im not sure how to go about this to get it covered. Thanks for your help.

I have Tricare Prime through the AirForce.  We did the clomid and HSG at a civilian doctor's office.  Tri Care paid for most of the HSG-I was still on civilian insurance for the clomid and so paid out of pocket.  When we went to the RE at our local military hospital-all my medications, ultrasounds etc were covered.  We didn't pay a cent.  The first time we got pregnant we had to do 4 IUI's-all except my husbands part was paid for by TriCare-we paid $165 each time for his part.  This time it took 3 IUI's.  The hospital no longer does the IUI's in house-so we did all the monitoring etc at our RE's (covered completely by Tri Care) and then the actual IUI procedure (my part and husband's part) we went to an outside RE and paid $200 out of pocket each time.  That is all.  Everything else has been completely free.  I do know if we would have had to go to IVF it would have been more expensive, but our doctor still told us it would be at least half of what civilians pay.  I wonder why your Tri Care isn't covering as much as mine.  I am Tri Care Prime-do you think that makes a difference?  Good Luck!

Congrats!! I am glad to hear it was all worth it. So if that first try didnt work would you have had to pay all over again or do they give you so many trys for that price? Sorry I ask so many questions I need to get a back up plan.

Yes, it was VERY expensive. My doctor did have a somewhat discount for military & my IVF was around $7300 and the meds were around $2500. Grand total somewhere close to $11,000. They paid for my initial consultation visit at the VERY beginning (when we went to discuss our medical history, possible treatments, but no actual fertility treatment was done), but after that, we paid the $7300 that covered the rest (all of the appts, bloodwork, ultrasounds, retrieval, transfer).

And yes, thankfully our first attempt worked. I'm 15wk3d with b/g twins.

Thanks for your help. Was the IVF and what you had to pay for expensive?  Did it work for you? So did they cover all your apt visits with that dr to or just one?

I have tri-care. I did IVF back in May and the only thing they paid for was my initial consultation & shockingly part of my fertility medicine (when I received the meds, it showed they covered the lupron and something else, which I dunno if it was a mistake on their part, but I didn't mind!). But other than that, it was all on me.
