Chest pain with Etrace patch?

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone here can help me. I was supposed to start my estrace (E2) patch today (10 DPO) and then onto an IVF stim at the beginning of next AF. So this morning, I stuck one of the patches (.1mg) on my left rear cheek and after about 6 hours, I had very bad chest pains. I have never felt like that before. It hurt badly to take deep breaths and I was just lying on the bed afraid to move because my chest was hurting so much.

Hubby tried to do some research on the net to get some answers on side effects, but we couldn't find any. I finally decided to take off the patch before things became so worse that I had to rush to the emergency room. I wil call my RE tomorrow morning, but meanwhile, I'm soooo scared and was hoping someone here can help me find some answers.

Thanks,
Julie

Hi Kah,

hey thanks soooo much for sharing your experience. I was supposed to take Estrace patch every alternate day and I got soo scared when I had chest pain. I just got a call back from my RE and you know what they said? They are saying the pain should not have come and it's highly unlikely that the estrogen patch caused it!! I didn't even speak to my RE, just her nurse asst.

They told me to discontinue the patch. And I called back to ask if I should substitute it with anything, they said no. So right now, Im not taking the patch. Did your RE give you any reason why your chest was paining ? and Did they ask you to discontinue it? I'm wondering if not taking th estrogen patch will affect my IVF cycle... even before I begin:(( this is sooooooo stressful:(

Hi Julie,

I was taking estrace pills twice a day and I was having really bad chest pains, where at times I got really scared because they felt so sharp.  So, I can relate.  Just try to relax until your RE calls you and hopefully they can give you some answers.

Hi tina, thank you sooo much for your concern dear:)) I did take off the estrogen patch soon as I had chest pain to avoid getting into a serious situation, and I recovered soon after. Have called my RE too, now waiting for them to call back.

was just wondering if other ladies here might have had similar experiences, so I can stop freaking out!!

cheers,
Julie

Call your dr immediately! Chest pain, regardless of sitution should never be diagnosed over the web. It needs medical attention at once! If your dr cannot see you, go directly to the e/r! Chest pain is serious and should always be diagnosed by a medical professional. Please don't tarry!
