On paper, everyting is fine. Sperm count is great but they just aren't sure of the quality of my eggs. They really felt I should have had at least 6, maybe even 10 to work with. The doctor was hesitant to even proceed with IVF and suggested another IUI, but our percentage is only 5-10% with IUI. So, we're rolling the dice to see if the 3 they retrieve survive ICSI and eventually transfer. I don't know what to think... except pray a lot! :-)
I really hope your eggs are viable! Yep, yep...my eggs too were "old" and after 1 failed IVF, my doctor was honest and said our best bet was with donor eggs. I'm 44 and also 6 wks preggo! Also, I have a 22 year old daughter and didnt think it would be a problem getting pregnant...yeah right! I'm so naive. Anyway, I feel better with the donor egg option and don't think I have to worry about all the abnormalities that may have occured with my own eggs.
good luck w/ your retrieval. they really should be able to tell what is going on, though, by retrieving your eggs and really being able to look at them. sorry i don't know the % on these, i was 35 when we did IVF 2X and found out my eggs were "bad" (which was a shocker, they retrieved 18 1st time and 23 2nd time and i had a six year old!) so we opted to go the donor route...was the best decision we could ever have made, we now have a 20 month old and 6 wks preggo.
...pulling for you!!
