Post IUI

How many days after artificial insemination can you do a urine pregnancy test?  Or would it even work prior to the blood test at 14 days?  I just had my first IUI and I am so anxious.  I am 43 and I don't have alot of time on my side so i am already planning the next IUI.  I am trying to stay positive but it is so hard when you have been trying for sooo long.

My clinic does the blood test 12 days post IUI so I waited until then.  I knew that if I tested earlier it would be either positive from the HCG or if negative too early.  So I literally fought the urge to test and waited for the blood test since it's more sensitive anyway.  Unfortunately it was BFN. So we are looking at IUI #2.

Hi, I am 12dIUI which was our second IUI.  Let me say resist the urge to test early!!  My first IUI i started testing at 9dpIUI BFN very disappointing.  to answer your question it really depends on which pregnancy test you use, they all test pos at different levels of hcg the lowest is the first response early results test which can detect down to 6 units of hcg! but be carefull some women over 40 have low levels of hcg naturally so you could get a false positive with that test.  you might want to look for one that tests higher like 25 units (regular firstresponse and many others).  The earliest you can test if you took a trigger is 8dpIUI, it can take up to 10 days to leave your system.  I would wait until 12dpIUI to rule out testing too soon.  Good luck i hope that helps..
