Sono HSG...does it hurt? Open Forum

I am scheduled for a sono hsg next Wednesday.  I had the HSG in October of last year and it was terrible.  I bled badly for 5 days. (sorry tmi)  I am worried that this is going to be just the same.  Have any of you had this and how bad is it?  Any suggestions to help with pain?

Thanks

Oh, I had both done at the same time, saline and dye. I think the dye was WAYYYYYYY worse.

MIne wasn't horrible. he only part that really hurt me was when they injected the dye. I had bad cramping for maybe 2 mins then it was over. I think the reason I was cramping so much was b/c one of my tubes was partially blocked and the dye pushed the blockage out. Good luck!

Hi,
I have heard some girls say it didn't bother them at all. Mine was awful.
I fainted, which is very rare.
Good luck! Hope your tubes are clear!

I have no idea.  The nurse said this time they will use saline instead of dye.  I am getting ready to go through IVF/ICSI, starting my BC on Sunday - getting really nervous now.  :-)  I do have an endometrial cyst in my ovary - so maybe that is why.

Does anyone else know why I would have to go through this procedure again.  The HSG came back normal - and I agree Teach - it was terribly painful.  This one is supposed be done in the office with saline - but the same procedure (???)

Hi, sorry to say, but it is painful.  You should take 800mg. motrin an hour before you go in.  My RE was going to give me a valium too but I forgot to pick it up!!!  Can you believe that!?  It is a short (3-4 min. )  yet brutal test, but WELL WORTH it!  If you don't mind me asking, why do you have to do it again?
