What Happens After an Embryo Transfer?
Once you complete your embryo transfer, you will have approximately 1½ weeks to wait before a pregnancy can be detected. The following tables outline an approximate timeline for what happens during a successful pregnancy after a 3-day transfer (3dt) and a 5-day transfer (5dt).
3-Day Transfer
Days Past
Transfer (DPT) Embryo Development
One The embryo continues to grow and develop, turning from a 6-8 cell embryo into a morula
Two The cells of the morula continue to divide, developing into a blastocyst
Three The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell
Four The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus
Five The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation
Six Implantation continues
Seven Implantation is complete, cells that will eventually become the placenta and fetus have begun to develop
Eight Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) starts to enter the blood stream
Nine Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Ten Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Eleven Levels of hCG are now high enough to detect a pregnancy
5-Day Transfer
Days Past

I found this online and thought you may be interested to see. I'll post the 5 day transfer in the next post.

Rghkah: don't give up until your Beta!! The IVF nurse told me that she had some women get negative HPTs right up until their Beta (the blood test is way more sensitive) and actually stopped their progesterone as they were convinced they were not pregnant when in fact they were!! Plus some HPTs are more sensitive so perhaps the positive ones were real and the last one is just not that sensitive. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!!
That's great Korrskat! Then you'll be joining me for the TWW!! they did give us a picture of our two little embies. They are so cute!! One was 9 cell and the other 5. You can't find out the gender this soon I don't think unless they do extensive testing and they don't do it routinely only if there may be a genetic issue or something and it is not legal for them to do gender selection unless there is a gender related issue (This is in Canada anyway). Good luck with your transfer tomorrow!! Will be thinking of you!!
KP so glad you are starting to feel better from this OHSS!! And CONGRATS on hearing the heartbeat!!! That must be quite something I imagine!!! I hope to be right behind you with my BFP!!! Are you on Progesterone?? I am taking Prometrium pills and I think this is what is causing the cramping and bloating right?? I'm only day 1 post transfer so I wouldn't be feeling anything yet right??
Hi Ladies!
I have great news and heard the heartbeat this morning of my little bean!!! Just wanted to let you all know since you have stuck with me through all the waiting and procedures and everything. I am 6 weeks 2 days along now. I am also feeling better from the OHSS however they said my ovaries are what are still causing the pain since they are still the size of a clementine on the left and a grapefruit on the right! Kinda funny I have a baby and big ole fruit inside me:)
Hopefulcb - that is so so so great that both embies made it to transfer! I'm so excited for you!
Korrskat - goo luck tomorrow with your transfer. Mine was a 5 day transfer too. The tww is tough but it does pass:)
rghkah38 - hang in there and I'm crossing my fingers for a good result tomorrow for you.
mhv - safe travels to you!
Have a good weekend ladies!
Hopefulcb- I got a call yesterday from embryologist team advising me that I will be called in on Sat for day 5 blast transfer and to be ready for the call. I am anxious and just wondering what the next week and 1/2 will bring... hopefully what I have been waiting for for 2 1/2 years. How did your transfer go? Did they give you any pictures of your embies? I am wondering if they know the sex of the embies? I will ask when I go in tomorrow. I am also going to do laser accupuncture before and after the transfer. I am excited for you.
rghkah38- Don't give up... when is your beta? just keep positive thoughts.
mhv- When are you leaving for your consult? Good Luck... praying for all of us.
The two test were from the same box, so I think they were evap.lines. I just took another test from a different box, but same brand and you can not see a line what so ever. So, it's over for me this month. I just wish I new what went wrong.
