Success after 2 failed IVF attempts?

I will be starting my 3rd IVF cycle this month after having 2 failed cycles this year.  I am 36 YO and conceived twins naturally in 08', after only one month of trying.  I have diminished ovarian reserve and although I had 4 embryos this last transfer, (we implanted 2 with the hopes of success), I again had a failed attempt  Has anyone had success after 2 failed cycles.  I am losing hope.  (I also did 3 failed IUIs).  Thanks!

I just wanted to tell you that it took me 4x for it to work. I have a 15 yr old that i conceived naturally but i had an ectopic pregnancy after her and it damaged my tubes completely. I had my 1st fresh cycle when i was 33 last august and it ended in miscarriage. then i did a frozen cycle and that didn't work at all. then we went to a different clinic and they did a fresh cycle with a different protocol which led me to barely get any embryos. all of the ones we did get ended up arresting on day 3 or 4. so when i did the 4th cycle (which was fresh) we did the protocol my 1st clinic did and i produced way more eggs. on day 5 i had 4 good looking embryos and at age 34 i had them transfer 3! i ended up pregnant with 1. so as of right now all is well! i wish you lots and LOTS of luck! I hope it works out for you!

Thank you so much ladies for taking the time to respond.  One of my best friends had success on try 3 which gives me hope.  We were so frightened of having multiples that we only transfered one embryo the first time (only had one to choose from anyways...lol).  The second time we did two.  Maybe on try 3 we should try 3 (assuming I have 3).  Best of luck to all of you.  This is a journey I never expected to be on but I realize how fortunate I am to have my two healthy boys and hope every woman who wants to be a mommy is blessed with a baby.

Yes - what mhv said!  Most "assist" or "refund" programs offer 6 tries.  We went through Attain IVF, which guaranteed us a pregnancy doing three fresh cycles and three frozen cycles (so six tries) or we would be refunded.  It took us two tries.  Our first (fresh) cycle did not work, but our second (frozen) cycle did.  And when we did the frozen cycle, we only had one embryo that survived the freeze/thaw process that we were able to implant.  So it just takes one!  But yes, it is VERY common to have to go through IVF multiple times in order to achieve success.  Don't get too down or lose hope!!

There are several women on here that have been successful after several tries.  CWolf is one, Alma0988 is another....
I did alot of research once, and it showed the average # of tries at IVF is 6.  Not saying that women aren't successful the first time, but the average is 6.  That's why most refund programs offer 6 tries.
I hope you have success this time!  We're here to root you on for sure!

I could be happen, since you are pg before.  Do you consider to transfer more than 2 embryos due to your age?  I believe 3 is the best for any one who is over 35 yo to increase the odds.  I transfer 3 for the first cycle when I was 36 after 6 failed IUIs but failed as well.  I change RE and transfer 5 result to singleton but miscarray.  Again transter 8 embryos, result ectopic, transfer another 5, failed.  Finally, transfer 8 and my boy just turn 1 yo last week, when I turn to 41 in 2 more weeks.  Good luck.
