To test or not??? HELP

I have read so many of you who have done IVF have done a HPT. Anyone willing to share whether they would do it again, or would it have been better to just wait for the b/w HCG?

I will be out of state on the date of my HCg so can't do the B/W I am wondering if I should HPT or if I will just freak out regardless of the results until I get the HCG, any thoughts?

Just an update:  they retrieved 7 eggs, only 4 were mature, but all 4 fertilized.  I hope they develop well by Thursday.  I'm actually extremely lucky that my insurance covers 4 IVF cycles, meds and all.

Sarge, I am so sorry for oyur loss and am cheering you on for this 3rd cylce. Do they do the free medication for the 3rd cylce where you live? I am hoping for nice big plump and plentiful eggs for you. keep me posted.

Chissie, I have been thinking of you so much and am glad to hear you sounding stronger, evey day gets easier. Thank you, you answered my question. I di dnot test the last time we did IVf just waited. I talked to the RE today and he said I could come in on friday, so I think I will wait until then. although what a lovely Valentines gift if it were BFP on a HPT on thursday! :-)  I am sending such happy thoughts your way. If I might, I would like to suggest 2 things for you to try. The one worked for the first IVF with my almost now 4 year old DD, the second supports why the first worked :-).----Whit my first IVF (which we had a DD with) I had the photos of the embryo and a newborn sleeper hung on my dresser in my bedroom so I saw both contsantly and made me hopeful and smile. I also had NO DOUBTS tha tthis would work even thoug it was our first attempte and we only got 1 medium quality egg. The second time I did neither and felt a little tiny bit doubtful that it would not work for some reason. After my biochemical pregnancy a girlfreind bought me The Secret Book, which essentially is the power of postiive thinking. I read it, and this time is so totally different, more like the frist successful attempt. I have the embryo phot up at home and work and the same little sleeper I used for my DD is haging. I love it every day, cradel it in my arms like I would a bbaby and envision my baby to be in my arms. I know it sounds crazy and we won't know until Friday it is worked, but in my heart I just feel it I am pregnant, no doubts at all!!! Just a thought, I know you already taking great care of yourself this time around and not even working so I thought I would throw something else your way.

I have done both; the first IVF I waited until my blood test. I always figure there's a reason the doctor determines the best day for the blood test, and testing before that can be inconclusive (my sister-in-law tested negative the night before her blood tests with BOTH of her pregnancies, only to get a positive the next morning on her beta).  On my second IVF, my blood test was scheduled the day  after Christmas. The only reason I tested early was because it was Christmas morning and Ithought it would be a wonderful gift to get a BFP, which I did (ended in miscarriage).  Tomorrow I will have my egg retrival for my third IVF, and I will NOT test early.  Good luck.

I would just wait, I tested early & it devastated me I think that may have contributed to my neg result, just wait & do HPT when you are supposed to have HCG.

If I do another cycle there is no way I am testing early I just dont want the upset again..
