There is another shared risk program I want you to look into...it's called Attain IVF.
It really pisses me off that they are covering your meds and the donor meds! That's the cheapest part of the process!!!!!
Ok, this is just ridiculous! I am going to suggest you get a second opnion with shady grove. They are close to you, and will give you an honest opinion. They are experts in the donor area.
They have a marvelous donor program too.
We will deal with your husband after this appointment. :)
It's ok, you need this time to heal, and it's ok to slow down, and make some decisions.
And, to convince your hubby.
I also want to know if you have ever considered donor embryos?? Lots of clinics have a donor embryo programs, and there are sites you can connect with people looking to donate....
My head is spinning & my heart aches. I am taking all your good advice to heart. I will make an appointment with another fertility clinic, show them my records, and at the very least, get a second opinion. I will also see if my clinic will allow me to have a meeting with the embryologist. In the meantime, about the "free cycle," this is what I learned about what the deal really is: my clinic pays for all the medical expenses for me and my donor. However, I have to pay out-of-pocket for the donor's fee ($5,000); her travel expenses to DC ($4,000); the agency fee (4,000); and now the PGD testing fee ($4,000). Doesn't sound very "free" to me, now! I feel like a sunken ship. :(
Out of curiosity, what wrw the embryos on your first cycle?
I have heard of pgd, but I honestly think she is wrong!!!! I have an idea, you tell her you want that free cycle, with pgd (at the clinics expense!).
I honestly think this is a clinic issue!!! Day 5 embryos are always going to be better then day 6 embryos. And it makes me believe it even more that they know these embryos aren't the greatest when they transferred 3 day 6 embryos!!! I dont know why an RE would transfer 3 high quality embryos (day 6 or 5)...too much of a chance of tripletts.
I hate that this clinic has put you through hell, and that your husband is buying into their BS. There is nothing wrong with "his sperm"
Did you ask to speak with the embryologist?? You NEED to do that!!! To get their take on why a donors eggs are taking 6 days to make it to blast...and what is the ideal donor is in their opinion before you pick this last donor.
Your husband is letting a crappy situation decide if you two should be parents.
1 other thing I would highly recommend you ask for a copy of ALL of your medical records with them, and the reports on your embryos, and get a second opinion.
It was the way I learned my embryos were crap from our first round....
Your husband is hurt, I get it. You need to get proof that this is a clinic issue, not a "you" issue.
Hello MHV & SusannaL-- Well, I had my appointment with my doctor today, and she said she was really surprised that this last donor cycle didn't work. As you know, three 6-day blasts were transferred. One was a Grade 1 & two were Grade 3 blasts. She said if she were me, she would take advantage of the free cycle and if that didn't work, she would just give up and move on with her life knowing that at least she tried really hard. Anyway, she said if I went ahead and did another donor cycle, I should have PGD testing done. Right now, she suspects that the problem for my failed cycles is because of my husband's sperm, even though his sperm was already tested and the results indicated that there was nothing abnormal. I haven't yet said anything to my husband yet. He still maintains his position of not doing anymore cycles, free or otherwise. Have any of you heard of PGD testing? Do cycles with PGD testing usually result in a BFP? Thanks for any insight you can throw my way!
Here is a breakdown
Good luck and baby dust!!!!!
5-Day Transfer
Days Past Transfer (DPT)
One- The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell
Two -The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus
Three - The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation
Four - Implantation continues
Five - Implantation is complete, cells that will eventually become the placenta and fetus have begun to develop
Six - Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) starts to enter the blood stream
Seven - Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Eight -Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Nine - Levels of hCG are now high enough to detect a pregnancy
