Viable Frozen Eggs

I just went through in vitro Fertilization. They pulled out 15 eggs, 12 were mature, and 11 fertilized! I thought that sounded great. On the day of my implantation, they informed me that I had (1- grade 2, 6- grade 3), and the rest were grades 4-6 & would be discarded.) I had two of the best eggs placed in me & I wanted the rest to be frozen. They informed me that they were going to let the eggs mature 2 more days & then freeze any viable eggs. Well, my pregnancy did not take. :( I called the clinic to check how many eggs had been frozen & they informed me that none of them had survived the 5 day maturation. They said that only 10% of the time do eggs make it the amount of time their facility requires. Is this common? Do most hospitals/centers wait 5 days to freeze them? Why wouldn't my strong eggs make it that long.

We are definitely going to try again! We are trying to set up a good time to have surgery to remove my hydrosalpinx, which they believe is the cause of my misfortune. Thank you for your encouragement & I will keep you informed. Good luck with your pregnancies!

I know it is frustrating not having any embryos frozen.I had the same problem with my first ivf. 12 eggs retrieved , 10 fertillized and on day five i only had 2 good embryos.all the others had stopped developing. with my second one on day five i had 4 good embryos but when my test was negative and i asked how many embros were frozen they said 8.So from 10 eggs fertilized all made it to frozen stage.I don't know how that works. Just try it again is not easy i know but i have been thpugh so much and still don't give up.

First of all, I'm so sorry about your failed IVF cycle. I think most clinics let the fertilized eggs reach the later stages of blastocyst before freezing. I had two blasts frozen on day 6 after retrieval and then another three on day 7 (so five frozen blasts). That was out of an original 11 fertilized eggs. 10% does sound a bit low, but I really don't know what the average is. Are you planning on trying again?
