Sorry I just missed your post since we were writing at the same time! I really hope that youa re right and that we will all have good news coming up. I would absolutely LOVE to have a healthy baby girl! I just really hope that this baby is healthy. I don't want the baby to have my disorder, but there is a 50/50 chance. I have always wanted a daughter, and I already have a perfect little boy. Hopefully God will bless me with a healthy baby girl and then we will both be over the moon!
I am glad your appt. went well and I can imagine how nervous you must have been. I have also had two amnios done before and they really do hurt!! I am glad that your blood work did not show any bad results...it seems like the babies will be ok. A 2% chance is not bad at all...you will beat those odds...look at all of the other odds you have beaten- You could have conceived through IVF and on your own at the same time...its amazing:) I hope that your amnio results come back clear!
AFM, my ultrasound went well. The second sac is still there but stopped growing. It measured only 6 weeks and 4 days and does not have a heart beat so it is definitely gone. The other one is measuring right and the heart beat was 168. They said that the spine looked good, so that made me happy. I was also able to see the baby moving and I saw the legs separating--it was so cool:) This was the first time I experienced that because I recently bought a low vision monoscope so that I can see things up close, so now I am able to see the baby on the ultrasounds which is great:)
mommyin10!!! I am so happy to hear from you. I am sorry that you are sore but sooo relieved to hear that the doctor says they don't think you have anything to worry about. I know much more relief will come in the next 7-10 days but I am thinking about you always and praying for the best. I hope the next week flies by so you get your results and can relax and be so happy knowing you are having a perfectly healthy son and daughter! That is just amazing. I know how excited I am to be having a daughter I cant imagine what it's like to know you get both! Lots of luck and support!!!!!
kmcarino- Thanks for the note. I hope you get your perfect little girl too. It's the most amazing feeling. If you thought getting that BFP was great just wait until they tell you that you are having a daughter or son. It's amazing. I can't even describe it. I truly can't believe that I am even here. I made the list!!! And so did you. I am happy....it's all going to work out. Just like I said. A string of bad luck and now good luck and great news is just around the corner for you. Yay!
I just missed you. Thanks :) I hope you start feeling better. If it was just a bug, it should leave you quickly. Take care!
Pyar & Rachjas, thanks :)
My appt went very well. I have to admit, I was nervous, but the genetic counselor went over our blood results in more detail & there were three areas that are tested & I tested normal in two & the one for Down's was on the borderline. Of course my age was also factored in to determine my positive result. Her assessment, based on 26 years of experience, was that our babies will be just fine ;) There's only a 2% chance that one or both babies will be affected.
Our anatomy scan showed a boy & a girl! So, now we're accepting the fact that we're having one of each :) We're still confused as to how that happened, but we are excited nonetheless ;) The scan showed three markers that "could" indicate an abnormality, one on our girl & two on our boy, but the doc looks for supporting markers to back up those findings & there weren't any. So, she said we needed to be advised, but she doesn't believe we have anything to worry about.
The amnio was quick, but it was also painful. They have to do it twice because our babies are in separate sacs. The needle itself didn't hurt, but when it goes through the uterus, Yikes! I'm sore now, so I'm just taking the rest of the day to relax.
We'll get our results in 7-10 days & all of our concerns will finally be answered. The amnio will reveal the babies' genders & whether there are any abnormalities, Down's or otherwise.
Well, that's my update :)
