thank you for your response. I'm not concerned with having multiples. i was just concerned with what the medication might do to my ovaries when we get into the higher range like 200mg, which would be if i don't get pregnant before the 5th month. My doctor doesn't think that i will conceive until we increase the dose to 150mg which would be the third month. After educating myself on multiple articles I am no longer concerned, just excited to expand our family.
50 mg is pretty minimal. My ob started me on 100 mg and I actually ovulate on my own. Higher dosage may help you O more than one egg thus increasing probability of pregnancy. If you REALLY want to avoid any chance of having twins though, ask your dr for 50 mg. With 100 mg chances of having twins are still very-very small though but higher than with 50 mg.
Good luck!!
It's perfectly fine. Staying on Clomid for too long can cause harm but not upping the dose. I ovulate with out Clomid but my body doesn't produce enough progesterone. I took 50 mg, got pregnant, lost it because of the low progesterone, and I am now on 100 mg. The only harm it is causing is the normal clomid side effects. I wouldn't want to get over 200 mg. That is something that you need to discuss with your doctor but anything over 200 mg would scare me. Keep an eye on it. You know your body better than anyone else. If anything doesn't feel right talk to your doctor. Goodluck!
