Follicle & Hormone level questions

Hey ladies I have a few questions, I got my blood work back that I will be bringing  to the RE.

So my FSH & Estradiol level were 6.5 & 169 respectively, this was taken on CD 74.  Anyone have any thoughts as to if this is good or bad?

Also what is the size of the follies should be for a good chance at pregnancy?  I am just curious at what they look for when they do the ultra sound.  Thanks ladies!!

Jenny-

I got really lucky and didnt have to do ivf or iui. Back in july i had the dye test done and it was found my fallopian tubes were blocked. So in september, they unblocked them, I was devastated b/c my RE had said that my tubes were going to have to be removed and that i would have to do IVF. My insurance does not cover IVF or IUI so i bawled, and was upset, but come september, i had told myself that it was going to be what it was going to be and i couldnt change it, the doctor got in there and just had to separate my bowel from my tubes b/c they had grown together, my tubes are perfect and i got to keep them.

So in november when AF came, my doctor perscribed clomid days 5-9 and they monitored my follicles to make sure they were "growing" as they should, which they wanted them to be at least a 20. when that happened, they gave me the trigger shot (ovidrel) and told me basically when, what and when to do it, can you say awkward? non the less, i took a hpt and got a bfp on christmas day!

I just hope that you have good luck and get lucky on the first try like i did!!!!

ssbd to you!

OK .. that is different then .. they will definitely try to induce a period before starting .. I think the sure fire way of doing that will be BCP and then once you get it they will monitor you then .. what a pain waiting all this time for it!

Hey!!  Thanks for the responses ladies!!

Tones99--No not CD 4 I meant CD 74 unfortunately..lol...My last period was at the end of Ott, I think the fertile aid for women I was taking messed me up! I am thinking they will give me provera or BC to get my cycle back on track.  The clinic wanted CD3 BW..but of course this is the first cycle that is messed!!!

Marten2009-  Did you do IUI or IVF??  Congrats on the pregnancy!!

Hello,

I just did a the ovidrel trigger shot, w/a round of clomid, i'm 9 weeks pregnant. They monitored my follies up until the time it was to release them.

When they were measuring my follies, they wanted them between a 17 and a 20 before they would give me the oK to do my trigger shot!

hope this helps!

did you by any chance mean cd 4?  if so .. they are great levels .. I know that my clinic likes to see fsh under 9 and estradiol under about 250 to start a cycle .. that means your body is at baseline and the meds will work well

the size of follicles depends completely on if you're doing a natural, stimulated iui or stimulated ivf cycle .. if it is natural or iui they generally like the follies to be early to mid 20s but with ivf they like them to only get to 18-22, but that's not until retrieval/ovulation time .. the first few u/s there are no hard and fast rules on follie size as everyone responds differently .. some women respond super fast and others slow

hope that helps a little
