IVF Transfer & car travel

k... really need some advice/opinions here.  My DH and I have been trying IVF only we live in Syria and our doctor is in Lebanon so there's an awful lot of driving a rather tiring road through the mountains back and forth every other day for u/s and then he has to leave me there for several days after the transfer.  Frankly, after two failed attempts, I just don't know that we have it in us to do all this so we're thinking of checking out another doctor here in syria.  Trouble is we have some frozen embies in Lebanon and if our doc there says they're worth trying then we will.
Now, my Dh is saying that he doesn't believe in this staying in bed for a week and I should just come straight home or at most, stay in Lebanon for a couple of days and that's it.
The first cycle my doc said I should have total bed rest for 3 days and then take it easy around the house for a further week.  That try never took.  Then the second try I asked if I shouldn't be staying in bed longer since the average person following his instructions is not getting out of bed and then spending two hours in a car on a twisty turny mountain road.  He agreed and we decided I'd stay in Lebanon for a week.
That said, he is overly cautious and my DH just isn't convinced.
Does anyone have any experience with this?  What are other people's doctors telling them?  Particularly people who have to travel long distances to get to their clinics???
I know it's not an exact science and the idea is just to go with what you'll be able to live with afterwards if it doesn't work out which is why I go for the whole staying in bed as long as possible but maybe I'm exaggerating so I could really do with knowing what pthers are being told.
Thanks everyone.

Wishing4#2... Yes, I DID have a BFP but apparently not anymore!  However, I'm trying real hard to look ahead at the next try.
SDScientist, I have to say, I am leaning towards going with the FET assuming that they're good enough quality and there are enough of them to make it worth a try.  Otherwise, if there's only one or two good ones, I might go through a fresh cycle and maybe add the one or two frozen embies.  All depends.
Good to know about the 4 hour drive being okay... I just wonder in my case because it's really not what I expect you have in the States... it's a really rough road in parts with pot holes all over the place and hairpin bends and it's not possible to take it slow because everyone's driving so fast... and there are no lanes!!!!!!!
babyalive, sorry I wasn't really sure what you meant... are you suggesting this too?  Going with the FET?
Unfortunately I highly doubt they have the tanks for the embryos around here but I'll ask.  You never know!
Thank you all.

That's what I would suggest also, having the embies transferred.  That seems the most logical.

My previous RE made me stay on strict bedrest for 3 days (3 tried no success).  The new Dr told me that after the transfer I just need to be a "couch potato" for 24 hours and then can resume normal activities minus anything strenuous, ie running, lifting heavy objects.  I had a friend that is a hair stylist and she returned to work, on her feer for 8 hours, the day after the transfer and she has twins.
In terms of travel.  I am going to drive 4 hours home the evening after the transfer.  The Dr said I could have flown as well.  In fact most of his patients travel the day after their transfer and his success rates are still higher than average.  I have to say, my opinion is that the bedrest is not all the important.  In fact some Drs don't recommend any at all because it reduces blood flow.  It really is what you feel comfortable with.
Can you have your frozen embryos transferred?  If your Dr in Lebanon or Syria have the portable liquid nitrogen tanks you could hand carry your embryos.

Magda, I am confused, I thought you just got your BFP.  Did something happen?? If so, I am so so sorry!!!  I know that my doctor made me do 3 strict days bedrest after IVF #1, it was a bfp but ended up chemical miscarriage.  This time I just did FET and I also did 3 days strict bedrest, then take it easy until blood test.  But i know other people who only do bedrest for 1 or 2 days.  So really it is what you feel comfortable with.  So sorry you have to go through this again!
