The dr. told me that the day you actually have to wear a pad is to be counted as your day one, like paranoidpatty says. As for the OPK, here is a website that I found very useful, maybe you can too.

Good Luck!!

Sorry this wasn't your month.  It helps me to just go ahead and start planning for the next one, which it sounds like you are.  Hang in there.

Technically you should start the first day of flow as day one.  This happened to me once tho, and it caused me to miss my O date.  We were doing a post coital test that month, so it really screwed things up.  So what I'm saying is, start your first day of actual flow as day one, but also be on the look out for O to show up a day or so early.

Good luck to you.

I recently started getting brownish discharge also so I can relate to the upset.  But you should count the day your AF actually starts to "flow".  I get the brownish discharge the first day and the next day I wake up with an actual red flow and I count that as day one.

As far as OPK, you should check the package and use what they say about when to do it because it depends on how long your cycle is.  Usually you start testing some time around day 9 or so.  But everyone is different.

Good luck!
