ectopic in right tube, egg released from left ovary?

I discovered that I was pregnant on valentines day and was so happy as my husband and I have been ttc for a while now. 2 days later I started to miscarry and after a scan I was told that it was an ectopic pregnancy.  I went through weeks of blood tests and have hcg levels have finally gone below 5, I'm lucky as i just passed everything without the injection or surgery.  The nurses were very helpful but they never explained how I could have released an egg from my left ovary for it to end up in my right tube? did it just 'forget' to stop and shoot right through or could it have been picked up somehow by the right tube? I cant find that much information on it and more importantly I would like to know if this 'diversion' made the ectopic more likely to happen? I'm really confused. I have healed well and am still upset by what happened but am finding it easier to look to the future now. My husband and I cant wait to start trying again, I just have these questions on my mind all the time? any help or advice would be great. thankyou
katy

from the internal scan they were able to tell which ovary the egg had come from as the part of the ovary that the egg came from produces the hormone (cannot remember the name) until the baby is developed enough to take over the production.  I lost the pregnancy at 5 weeks so it was still early enough to tell which ovary was producing this hormone.  I dont remember the exact details as everything was a bit of a blur but thats the basics of it. x

I am sorry that you had a m/c but it's great you were able to get pregnant.
Question:  How do you know which ovary the egg came from? Do you have one ovary?
