How long have you been trying? If it's been a year or more, I think it would be a good idea to see a specialist and have them do some tests (it can take a normal, healthy couple up to a year to get pregnant). Based on what they find, they might start you on Femara (letrozole). It just depends on your situation. If you have two blocked tubes, for example, Femara won't help (but a laparoscopy probably would).

As for side effects, I'm on my first Femara cycle and have had no side effects at all :-)

Best of luck to you!

I'm on my third cycle with femara (letrazole) and i've really liked it.. its my first fertiliy med that i've tried.. but it doesn't dry up cervical mucus like other drugs can and i've had 1-2 follies each time... and only side effects were very mild hot flashes only 2 or 3 times..no BFP here yet.. but we have tons of other problems.. but lots of people have luck with it!!!! . GOOD LUCK keep us udpated! : )

Letrozole is the generic name for Femara. You'll see it referred to as that on here, too. I am on my 2nd round and waiting to see if it worked this cycle. Compared to Clomid, the s/e are nil. Clomid was much worse. So far I've not noticed anything different with Femara. Good luck!

Sorry but I don't know the answer to that question, you are young so you do have that on your side so think of it that way.. I would talk to your doc about it.. He may not give it to you due to the fact that you are sooooo young.. good luck!

i'm only 24. do you think it's ok to use letrozole? i've been on ortho evra for a year then me and my fiance decided to have a baby soon. I had an abortion before and now we are having a hard time to get pregnant. On my first pregnancy, i got pregnant as soon as i finished my period and not using the patch. Do you know if the abortion makes me having a hard time now, or is it the patch? please help.

I used it, and had no side effects.  I only had one mature follicle, but I got pregnant my second cycle on it.  But I also did IUI that cycle.  But we had been trying for 6 years, and had tried injectibles, clomid, and several other things.  SO I really believe that the letrozole was a major contributing factor in us conceiving.

I did once but had a MC.  This time I was not so lucky.  I am forty with high FSH though.  I was told that at 40 about 80% of my eggs have chromosomal problems.  the letrozol gave my ovaries the best start.  I have tried nearly every drug on the market.  With most drugs I only produced 1 or two eggs.  When they added the letrozol I had 7 folicles the first time and 14 the second (I added acupunture the second time)  I had three other drugs used with the letrozol mind you - but they wake the ovaries up.

I used it.  The only side effect that I had was having hot flashes a couple of times.  Nothing too terribley bad.  Other than that nothing else.  It really stimulated my ovaries.
