interpreting opk LH Surge and day of ovulation

I noticed that I had fertile cervical mucus on Wednesday, and I used clear blue digital ovulation predictor kit on Thursday mid afternoon, but the result was negative.  I tried again on Friday mid afternoon and the result was positive.  My husband and I had intercourse after midnight that evening.  On Saturday my BBT had risen and I used the opk again mid afternoon and it did not detect an lh surge.  I assumed the kit would detect ovulation 48 hours prior, and I am wondering if we timed intercourse too late this cycle.

Thanks for your responses.  Last month, I did not get a positive on the opk until cd 17, and I was not sure if what I was seeing was fertile cm on cd 14, and when I tested on cd 15, the result of the opk was negative, so I'm assuming it would have read as a negative on cd 14 as well. On cd 16 it was positive, but by cd 17, I had already had a bbt temperature rise.  That caught me by surprise as last month I had at least 48 hours before the bbt rise from the positive opk.  Oh Well.  I've been ttc for a long time so I'm not too optimistic, and now dh is going abroad for two months, so July and August are out.

You can be pretty sure that when you see your temp rise you have already O'ed. So hopefully your BD on friday caught the egg... the OPK's are good indicators of IMPENDING O, but they are not always right. Your CM and temp are as much an indicator as the OPK... You did what you could and I probably would have done the same. If youre not preg. this round, I would BD at the first sign of EWCM... start using OPK the day you first see EWCM, and BD until after you see a temp shift.
GOOD LUCK, SSBD to you!!! Hope it worked!!!

Maybe you tested too late. Probably you should have tested on the wednesday. Maybe you ovulated on the wednesday or tuesday. After a positive OPK's you are suppose to ovulate 24 to 48 hours after. It does not necessarily mean that you did ovulate, but you should have. You need to chart your mucus and your period, check your luteal phase and start testing the earliest time you think you might ovulate.
