I did not have any pain:)
I did not find the HSG itself painful but (TMI coming) the gush of dye/blood that came after all the medical instruments were removed left me a bit shaky. I bled pretty good for 24 hours and then it stopped. I was told by my MD that the conflicting reports of pain vs no pain has alot to do with whether you receive a local anesthesia. (I did)
I was prescribed a antibiotic to take the night before (to reduce the risk of infection) and I was also advised an hour before the procedure to take 100mg of ibuprofen.
Good luck!
I remember thinking it was pretty uncomfortable, but it was very quick. And the information gleaned is invaluable! Hopefully you'll have a positive result and can then have the peace of mind of knowing that you have two open tubes! Good luck! :)
thx ladies! I think i'll take motrin b4 but still hope it doesnt hurt!
I found it unbearably painful but my close friend said it was uncomfortable at most to her, so it really does vary from woman to woman.
I did not find the HSG painful but some ladies do. I think it depends on the person. But honestly its so quick you will be fine. :) I think the entire procedure took 10 min. That included undressing. Take a pad with you because the one they give you is small and I spotted quite a bit. Also take the recommended dose of motrin they suggest before the procedure, that helped a TON! Good luck...hope all comes out CLEAR :)
