@nd Failed IUI

Today I was scheduled to have a pregnancy test to see if my second IUI was successful; instead I got AF.  I had a consultation with my RE and he stated he did not know why the IUIs were not working because all of my numbers/blood work/ultrasounds/sperm quality have been good.  I told him I wanted to move forward with IVF and he agreed.  IVF scares me!!  My RE said he will start my on Lupron on cd21.  What can I expect during this process?  I have never had any type of surgerical procedure in my life and never have been put to sleep so that part makes me nervous.  I also have a high stress job; the stress is throughout my entire day everyday.  Unfortunately I am not in a financial position to quit but I am concerned that my stress may be impacting my success.  Any advice?  I may talk to my doctor about a medical leave when I near egg retrival.

Kricket 212-thanks for responding and I'm sorry about your m/c.  As I get closer and I'm going through the IVF process, I may have more questions!!  Now, I have to wait until day 21 of my cycle to start anything.  Best of luck to you with your IUI cycles!!

10_07-I will keep you posted on my journey so you know what lies ahead of you.  Good luck with your IUI-maybe you will have success and won't have worry about IVF.

I totally understand your fear and frustration, and admire your courage to push forward with IVF. This will be my 3rd and final round of IUI, as my RE told me this month he feels I would do best with IVF. I too am very scared at the thought, and am worried about the commitment involved. As far as dealing with stress, though I have not yet tried it, I hear acupuncture can be very helpful. Best of luck to you. Please keep me posted on how it goes, as I will most likely be following your lead!

I am sorry you are not having any luck with the IUI.  I am kinda starting backwards & doing IUI now even though my first cycle was IVF (Story in journal)  anyway, I have to say I am amazed on how easy IUI is on my body compared to IVF. I am doing injectable IUI not clomid.

With iVF it certainly is more involved & more dedication is involved. There is a period of time you will be going to RE everyday for blood/sono.  There is also more drugs involved that make you feel bloated.  I had no other side effects.
This was the first time I was under anthesia also & honestly was not that bad.  For the retrival you are under about 15-20 min & just tired when done.  Believe it or not I felt fine after & we went to diner for lunch. LOL   Really I did!!  The transfer for me was nothing & just kinda like a pap.  I took a week off from work.  I probably will not do that next time now that I know how the procedure went.  Although I did get a positive the result ended with a m/c.

Wishing you lots of luck & if you have further questions I will try & answer..just ask.
