4th Beta and Ultrasound

Hi Ladies,

I had my 4th beta today and it went from 1793 9/20 to 9871 today (5 days later). My progesterone went from 18.23 last week to 18.56 this week. I went in this afternoon for my ultrasound and I was measuring 4 wks 6 days and she said everything looked great so far. Now here's the thing.. My LMP was 8/6 .. now doesn't that seem a little off? Or could it be because after my MC in May that my cycle never really normalized (45 day cycle then a 25 day cycle)? I am so confused. I go back in Oct 9 for another ultrasound.

Patty

Geeze, well that sounds great :) I just think that when she says that you are 4 weeks 6 days they usually say that from LMP don't they? Our #'s are soo similar and I will be 6 weeks tomorrow from my LMP. It is soo confusing.  I'm so glad you had a sac and a baby! So they did not do a vag us? Ugh, that sux...I get mine on Thursday and I'm a bit nervous. I just want it over with, either it's a keeper or a forever dragged on not keeper. That's the whole problem... I'm soo happy that you have good news!!

that is what I originally thought.. the 18th.. but it can't be right. I had a HCG blood test done on 8/29 and it came out BFN.

I don't know about identical twins but if fraternal there would have been two sacs.    In any event you've got a good singleton brewing!

I see you thought you o'd on the 18th.  If that were the case then you would have had a BFP on 9/1/07 when you when you were 14dpo, so if that were the case then the hcg at 41 wouldn't have been good.  It makes more sense that you O'd last week in August based on all the calculations!!

So this is all good because you're not having a bad ultrasound and are small for dates.   You're good!!

Thank you so much!! You are very educated!!.. I really appreciate this! It souds good! I tried to call them but they left because of the power outage due to road construction. I will call them tomorrow and see what they say. A woman at the hospital where I get my blood asked me if I was having twins because of the high jump in my HCG levels. I wish! But I doubt it, although my mom had 2 sets of twins that didn't make it past 5 months fetal age and my aunt had 1 set of twins and 1 set of trips.. that did make it!! So i guess anything is possible, but it just seems like she would have seen something today. I guess I can hope for anything right!!

Thanks again!! Patty

PS...you're progesterone is rising ans you HCG have risen too....You're looking very very good Patty!!

Maybe they could bump your appt up to 9/28.  On your next appt don't let them rush you or rush through your appt.  Take a pen and paper and get:

diameter of gestational sac
Crown rump lenght ration
fetal heart rate ( you SHOULD see the HB at this point)
an make sure the measurement is consistent with this one.

Of course I'm not a doctor but just based on internet research.   Usually at about 14DPO the HCG is about 50.    So it seems like you had a 35 day/goofy cycle.  Everything is out of whack after miscarriage.  So I wouldn't worry.

You got a positive HCG on 9/10/07 right?   You might have been 8 to 10 DPO when you got your BFP.  The next day your beta was just 40 so that could ahve been about 11 to 12DPO.  So you could have O'd the between the 28th and 31st.  That would put you would at  5w2d - 5w4d today.    plus or minus a couple days.

Ultrasound makes sense.   She has you at 5w6days.   Give them a couple days for room. The HPTs are so sensitive.  I got a positive with an hcg level of 6!  This last one I got positive on before my hcg was 15.

I would call them and get them to send you a copy of the ultrasound report and go over the measurements on the links I sent you.   If you have to , go over there and get it.   Or call them and tell them you want measurements.

I think you're safe and you're baby's bigger than it should be!  You're in good shape!!   Does this all make sense??

Get those measurements though.

She never really said anything, She just said well things look great and you shouldn't worry at this point. Make an appointment in 2 weeks for fetal heart rate. She said there was a baby in there but that's it. She was kind of blunt as she was in a hurry because they were doing road work there and they said they were going to turn out the power in a few minutes so she hurried her patients along so she could get all of them. She did tell me that if she would have had more time she would have done a vaginal ultrasound and would have gotten the heartbeat. I was thinking I would be about 7 weeks now, so when she said I was measuring 4 wks 6 days I was like.. well hmmm. But I guess if I look at gestational age verses fetal age then that would make me 7 weeks gestational age and 5 weeks (tomorrow) fetal age. Or do I have it all wrong? I have read that page... it is a great web site!

Thanks ladies!!

ntaylor... I was thinking I ovulated the 18 of Aug.

It was really good.  You're dates could be off too!   Gestational age is based on LMP.  Important thing is there was a yolk sac.  When was your first beta and how much was it???

I've never had a m/c but I've heard many stories of irregular cycles following a m/c and since you didn't get a bfp until well into your cycle.. I think you O'ed late..

That hcg is high for 4wk6d but there measurements are not exact.  All they do is put the pointer on the screen.. When was the last time she had her eye ball calibrated???

I know it is impossible not to focus on the uncertainties, but I think it is pretty early and every situation is not text book.. hang in there just a while longer.. time will tell for sure.. but I think your situation looks really good... If something wasn't right either your progesterone or the hcg would started significantly falling...

Congrats!!  Think happy baby thoughts!!

How big was the gestational sac????    It's pretty accurate within a day or two of giving you gestational age.   Based on your LMP your gestational sac would be about 20mm.   If gestational sac was about 20mm that would be appropriate for you dates.   Did they see the baby????    Did they see  fetal heart pole?    They might have seen hb at about now.   Your 7w1d right?

Next time you get ultrasound get the # hb and find out the CRL measurement.

Do you know when you ovulated? If not, and your cycles have been off, there's really no way of knowing what you "should be" measuring. But your hcg is great!
