only 2 eggs fertilized...

Question

The call came that only 3 of the 10 eggs were mature and 2/3 fertilized ..I am shocked and so paniced that none will even make it to transfer..the RE was also surprised..my numbers and all looked good..but i guess it has been me all along..they will call today with grade  any advice would be appreciated ..this was 1st and only attempt and it doesnt look good..why would this have happened?

we heard this am that one is a grade 1 pefect looking and the other a grade 3..they will transfer both tomorrow morning..saying lots of prayers tonite!

Don't be dissapointed. It only takes one to make a baby. I had tons of follicles on each ovary and bout 13 or so over 12 mm on each ovary. I thought for sure, that I would have alot of eggs retrieved. It turned out I only had 13 eggs. Then, the next day I got the call that only 9 fertilized and only 7 were mature. they scheduled my transfer for day 3... the day of my transfer i got a call from my doc saying that the embryos look so good they are going to do a day 5 transfer. Day of transfer i found out I only had 6 embryos. We used 2 for transfer. few days later, out of the 4 i had left, only 1 made it to be stored. I was so upset. But as it turned out, the transferred embryos implanted and I am pregnant. So don't lose hope yet. You still have a chance, just try to relax and think positively that it will work. Good luck

I did IVF in dec 09 & had a similar situation. They retrieved 22 follicles, 16 fetilized & the morning of the transfer, found out only 3 matured...1 being a morula. I was devastated! The RE put back all 3 and we are currently pregnant w twins! Don't give up just yet. Have faith! :)
