TTC # 1 after Depo

Anyone here try conceiving after depo? If so, how long did it take you to get AF since your LDPI? Thus, how long to conceive. My LDPI was june of 07, so was due again sept 7th didnt get one, had 2 shots b/c of very bad side effects and DH didnt like me on it. So Dec 28th will be 4 months off depo, the only thing I had so far was very little spotting nov 3-6, not getting my  hopes up i know it can take up to 18 months to get preggers, and doesnt matter how many shots you've had. Any input would be helpful! I do alot of research during the day on everything with depo and conceiving lol.

Hello. I was on depo on and off for 3 years. It took me 1 year to get actual regular periods back. Before I went on depo I had perfectly regular 28 day cycles, now I have regular 27 day cycles. I did spot the month before I had an actual period. My doc said it is bc you period is trying to regulate itself and come back. Then the next month I had 2 periods in 1 month. One was on the 7th and it was a period, but it was extremely light. Then on the 21st of the same month, I had a period that was extremely heavy and clotty. Since then, I have had 4 regular 27 day cycles and have had positive OPK's, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I am ovulating. I have been ttc for 3 cycles now and no luck yet. But I wish all the luck to you!

a week before my 3rd injection was due in the beginning of sept, i had that lovely side effect of being preggers, so i took a test, bc i remembered what the doc said about you can ovulate right after your injection is up, not knowing all the other stuff yet, so i got  test. The 1st one was neg, a week later still feeling funny, the 2nd one came up positive, i was like holy ****! howd that happen. Took like 3 more tests to make sure and they all came back negative so i dont know what was up with that but def bummed me out

Thats really odd you mentioned your gallbladder bc i went to the ER maybe a month ago for abdominal pain, i knew it was from the shot but ended up spending 8hrs in the ER checking my gallbladder for stones, or for appendicitis

Hello.  I was on depo for 1 year.  I have been off of it for 6 years, and ttc that whole time.  I did not get my period back to normal until I saw a reproductive endocrinologist.  I am currently almost 10 weeks pregnant after about a year with the RE.  I am not posting to discourage you, but rather to encourage you to see a specialist sooner rather than later.  I feel like I wasted alot of time with regular OB/GYN's who didn't really know what they were doing (although they seemed to at the time).  Good luck to both of you!  I hope you get your BFP's soon!

Yeah, probably just stress. But when I had first come off Depo, my doc said to count spotting if it occurs for more than one day as the beginning of your next cycle. Weird, most docs won't tell you that. But for me I didn't have to worry too much the spotting happened for the first 3 or 4 months and then I got regular periods but some months it would be just a few days and others it would stretch on for what seemed to be forever. I had to have my gallbladder removed in March of this year and went on birth control so I wouldn't get preggo while my body was healing. I went off the BC in August and have been TTC again since then.

Im hopin im one of the lucky ones that gets AF back 4 months after being off depo and is somewhat regular lol. I wasnt fully informed of the shot by my doctor. I had a checkup before me and my hubby moved to tx b/c of military and i had a diff doc in her office that day and told him im not getting the shot anymore, we want to conceive, hes like oh yea no problem you can get preg right away, 13 weeks. Then i came online and started reading stories, experiences, and i got reaaaaally po'd. Im hoping stress isnt a result which i know it sounds odd, but we have a ton of stress, bad luck since we moved here in august, everythings gone wrong. We had to drive 1400 miles allll the way back home to straighten some stuff out and thats the only time i spotted when i was actually back home and stress free for  week! Could just be a coincidence though lol.

Jenny,

I am TTC after depo. My last shot was in May 2006 and I still haven't conceived. I am a member of fertilityfriend.com, which at first all I did was chart the start of each cycle so I could see when my cycles got back to normal, and then I started temping. I stopped TTC'ing for about 4-5 months because I had to have major surgery and went on the pill. After I got off the pill, my cycles leveled out. I can honestly say that this last month is the first month I have been able to confirm ovulation and that I am currently 15 dpo with my AF due today. I am hopeful, but still getting a BFN. I am going to test again tomorrow and then on Friday to see if BFN. I have done ALOT of research on TTC after Depo. Would love to answer any other questions you may have.
