small ovules

Hi.. I have been having irregular periods since forever.. its normal time frame ranged between 32 to maximum 37 days.. this time it has been late 45 days now which did not happen since many years. Anyways, I did a pregnancy test though we are having safe sex and the result was negative. I also did anemia test and hemoglobin was good (12). After this I had this one time unprotected sex (it was 39 days late back then). Still no period so I visited my gyn.. he did a vaginal ultrasound and told me that the uterus is good and the ovaries are free of cysts but my ovule was smaller in size (16 ml while it should be at least 18). He said that this is the reason behind my irregular period, he prescribed clomid and recommended us to try to have babies though he said it is still ok for me to continue on having safe sex while taking clomid (ps.. the dr did not ask me to do any hormone tests or anything)

The thing is that, is it possible that his diagnosis be wrong
, I mean can my ovule be small at this time without being a patient of weak ovulation? Is there a possibility to have regular ovules without clomid?? What is better; to take clomid and follow up on ovulation wiz the doc or to try to get pregnant naturally first and see what will come?? I am afraid that if my ovules are all smaller that I might have a miscarriage due to its small size? What should I do? What can be the reason behind this small ovule?? Is this dysfunction perminant?? Is clomid the only treatment?

Thank you... yes I mean follicle.. I understand from what u r saying that I most likely have suffer from small follicles or weak ovulation as my doc prefers to say.

No I didn't get my progesterone checked bcus my dr didn't ask me to do so, he prescribed clomid at once although I told him we never tried to get pregnant. That's why I will see another dr.

Congratulations on your baby.. I wish u a safe delivery :)

When u say ovules u mean lik follices right?? When these are two small it's very very unlikely they will mature enough to ovulate!! Have u got progesterone checked this need to be over 60 to 80 at day 21. Wit regular cycle to see are u ovulatin. Clomid is good if u have a good doctor that monitors u while takin it!! I had two non checked cycle which failed no response . Then went private. At day 10 they scan to see if it startin to make the follicles grow if not treatment can cancelled or dose increased. I had 6 cycles.  two ovulated no pregnancy . I went onto injections . I am now nearly due my baby. There is a treatment u can get don ovarian drillin old method I got it don n worked for of look it up.
