Wants2bamom

I am just wondering if there is someone(s) who might have some advice, guidance, or same experience that could help guide me and give me hope. I am a 30 year old female who has always wanted to be a mother; however, I'm starting to wonder if that is possible. I still remember the first day I started menstrating. It was exactly on my 13th birthday. For years I had cycles every month but I just wouldn't know what time of the month I would have them bc they never started the same time each month. At the age of 18 I started taking birth control pills and it didn't not change the pattern or number of cycles. At the age of 23 after getting married I decided to stop the birth control meds because my husband and I wanted to start a family. After stopping the pill so did my periods. After 4 months with no periods and was obviously not pregnant I went to a ob/gyn doc who told me I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. He started me on metaphormin and went on a diet bc at the time I was over weight. My periods came and go and I was not very good about taking the medication bc it gave me severe diaherria so I do admitt I did not take them as often as I should. I got so depressed from not being able to become pregnant I decided to put it on the back burner and concentrated on getting my weight down. To try not to talk u to death in short I had the gastric bypass surgery and believe it or not I had a period the day of the surgery after almost a year of not having one. Since the surgery, which I have done well with, I had a period every month and about 1 1/2 yrs post decided to try to get pregnant again only to find out I was not ovulating. I was given chlomid and tried that for 4 months. I only ovulated once in that period. After that I decided to stop bc for one I got hired as a teacher and two was getting depressed It didn't seem to be happening. Now here we almost a year later and post op of 3 weeks from gallbladder it is now may and I have not had a period since Jan? Could it still be pcos? I do want to try to become pregnant this summer but what is the best way I should go? Should I try chlomid again, metaphormin? I just really need some advice bcci don't want to go through months of disappointment again and I refuse to believe I was not meant to have children so any advice would be great and thank u for it in advance and I apologize for being long winded.

Thank u for the wish... Its not looking so good bc I ended up in the ER bc of really bad pelvic pain and come to find out I had a cyst rupture and is bleeding into my ovary which has caused my ovary to expand to 40cm. Not fun at all. My fertility doc said it's going to take a few months to heal and there is still a chance I am pregnant; however, I don't feel that I am. If I am it will take longer to heal, but if I am not, then I will have to take a break from trying until it heals and even then my Hubby has some serious concerns and wants to ask questions and get answers before we decide whether or not it will be safe for me... It's been a nightmare but I know it's in gods hands and this is part of his plan for me.. But I am hoping that somewhere in his plan, he will bless me with a positive result so I can be a mommy... Lol

Hi...thanks for your comments.. I did end up going to a different specialists. I am now going to the Jones Institute and they put me on Famera and it worked the second try. I just took a ovidrel trigger shot 8 days ago and did timed intercourse which was last sunday and Monday night. I am waiting to see if it worked. I have had alot of cramping and sore boobs but from what I read from different blogs that's normal... I will take a HPT on the 14th but I am trying to figure out if there are anyways or if it's possible to know earlier than that. Thanks for the advice and if u have anymore to give it would be much appreciated... Thanks a bunch.

Hi...I would also try seeing a different RE?Just too see a different opinion?I've heard loads of stories where loads of woman with PCOS have had children. Also, I've heard alot of women complaining about clomid not giving them results..I've been ttc since 11 months now and nada for now.All my levels are fine and everyhting but for some unknown reasons I am not getting pregnant. I just decided to go see an RE and I just tried hcg trigger shots and they definitely do make u ovulate. My doctor gave me this shot to get "superovulation" cause I regularly ovulate. But it definitely works. Also, if worse comes to worse you can try IUI or IVF. I wouldn't worry too much, cause I really think you'll have good chances once u go through these different methids, but i'd definitely try seeing a different RE..You never know! best of luck for everything and keep me posted!

I'm sorry you've had to go through all this. The first thing you probably want to do is find out if you still have PCOS. If not, there's no need for metformin. But either way, since you haven't had a period since january, you're not ovulating, which means your best bet is to ask for an ovulation-inducing medication...like clomid. You said you only ovulated once on clomid last time, so make sure you ask your doctor about the dose you will be on and if it can be increased if you don;t ovulate your first month (some women need a higher dose to ovulate). Best of luck with everything!
