The same here I was never meant to get preggers naturally and the day I was schedualed to have my full hysterectomy my DR told me I was pregnant and he couldnt believe it he asked me what I had done since my cysts and endometriosis were taking over my lower part of my body and was spreading like wild flowers since then I have kept my faith and continue to do so because  I know in my heart my little blessing will be here

I had lap done in June.  It wasn't bad at all. you wake up after the surgery and your driver takes you home. I felt fine. I took it easy the next day and 2 days later had to fly back to Texas. They found endometreosis and removed it. A blocked tube unable to unblock. A couple months after the surgery I did the clomid challenge and have a high FSH. I'm 34 yrs old  I have now taken letrozol with IUI. no success. now taking Follistim to see if just maybe I can FINALLY get pg. the best of luck to you

Hi huni, it is great to have people who understand how we are feeling to chat to. I think it is perfectly natural to feel nervous especially about medical procedures.
I have not been able to conceive since my miscarriage and i have had 2 failed FETs. We have known for the past 6 years that we would have difficulty TTC but you find the strength to keep going. What keeps me going is that i have conceived naturally when the docs didnt believe it was possible and it was only a few months after my lap.

Sending you big hugs and hoping all goes well for you. Thinking of you.

I had a lap done in Dec 08. The procedure is supposed to last around 20 minutes, mine was 3 hours cos they found a lot of stuff that had to be cut away and my ovary and bowel were stuck together due to endo but most people are not in anywhere near as long as that. I was quite ill cos i cant tolerate anaesthesia very well and had problems in recovery with the morphine they gave me. Hopefully you wont have any issues with the meds huni. It can be a bit painful afterwards and you will feel quite bloated round your tummy,  and as the other ladies said you will have shoulder pain from the residual gas that is pumped in for the procedure. I had 4 incisions, one in the navel for the camera, one on the top of the bikini line and one on each side of my abdomen for them to remove adhesions but they are very small cuts. make sure you give yourself about a week to recover.
The good thing is if there is anything needs to be removed they can do it then and there. My hubby and i had been TTC for nearly 5 years when i had my surgery, the consultant had told us it would be nearly impossible for us to conceive naturally. I had af in jan and feb and at the beginning of April 09 i discovered that i was pregnant. Sadly i miscarried at 10 weeks but i believe that the surgey helped  and  despite what the docs said i did conceive.

If you are nervous ask them to give you something to help you relax, try not to worry too much. Wishing you loads of luck with your procedure, let us know how you get on.

I had two incisions....one through the navel and one by the top of the bikini line (a little bit in from the hip). I think a third one would have been made if they had to do any removal...but since everything looked normal, that wasn't necessary in my case. And yes, the first incision was for the camera and the second for some type of devise to move things so they can look around in there. The incisions are very small and really don't leave much of a scar. It's now been over two years since my lap, and I have to actually look for it to see the scar.

Like Des_a_rae said, the recovery might not be quite as easy if they have to do a lot of removal...but the lap itself is a fairly simple procedure. So try not to worry too much. It will all be OK!

Hi there!

I too had this done this year.  June 25th to be exact because they suspected Endometriosis and plus I haven't been able to get pregnant either.  They went in through my belly button with a tiny camera/light and they made another incision just at the "hair" line.  I was completely out of it.  Upon waking I was throwing up because I couldn't handle the meds they gave me.  I have a very low tolerance to any medicine and I do remember them saying " we gave her a small amount of morphine".  I'm thinking that's my reason for throwing up. :(  YOU might not be like that and they might not even give you that. I wished they hadn't me. :|  I was out of it the whole way home, slept most of the day.  Had some light bleeding so wear a panty liner or pad.  They'll go over all of that with you.  I was very sore.  My bellybutton felt "tight". I did have the shoulder pain as Heather mentioned.  They tell you to take some "Gas X" or something like that to help rid of the extra gas in there.  I forgot I even bought it and my shoulder did hurt for about 3 days. It was just an odd ache.  Sometimes felt like I couldn't breathe right and that was from the gas as well.  I was also sore in my lower stomach.  It really just depends on what they find, where all they search and if they have to remove anything as to how you'll feel.  I had Endometriosis removed, a cyst from my fallopian tube and I had to have a hysteroscopy at the same time to remove a fibroid from my uterus.  I think I laid up a total of 2 days just resting and after that I felt like getting up and moving around some.  Not alot but I was probably back to my old self in about a week.    Oh and my surgery lasted about an hr.   Anyways, I hope this helps some and please don't be scared.  I was really scared/nervous.  I've never been sick or broke a bone and here I was going for surgery.  It was scarey but it was okay!!   If you wanna talk or ask me some questions please feel free to!   I wish you the absolute best!!  Take care hun, you'll be fine! :)

i am an operating room nurse and we do these all the time. it depends on the surgeon but usually there are 3 - 1'' incisions, one is usaully throw the navel.  and yes the air can cause shoulder discomfort but will disapate. if you have any other questions feel free to ask.  if you are nervous ask that they give you a little extra versed (relaxation med) in prep and hold...makes it easier :) best wishes!

I've had a lap...not to remove a cyst of anything, but what they call an "exploratory lap" to see if there were any blockages or anything that would prevent me from getting pregnant. The procedure was, in my case at least, very short, and you're under full anesthesia, so you won't know what's going in until you wake up. As for recovery, it really wasn't that bad...except for one thing: They use a type of gas to fill the stomach cavity (so they can see and get to the organs better), and this gas tend to stay in your body for a while after, making your shoulders achy (yes, the shoulders...weird, I know). Good luck with everything!
