It could take a few months for your cycle to normalize after stopping birth control.

Many things can cause irregular periods. Changes in your body's level of the hormones estrogen and progesteronecan disrupt the normal pattern of your period. Other common causes of irregular periods include: Having an IUD. Changing birth control pills or using certain medications.Too much exercise. PCOS. Stress. Thickening of or polyps on the uterine lining. Uterine fiboids. Just make sure those are out of the question.
