Unfortunately, with costoch there aren't many treatments available. You could certainly try accupuncture and that may alleviate the pain for you. I know it hurts and makes even breathing difficult. Hopefully, it will ease up for you soon.
Please take care of yourself and keep in touch.
Curiously, when my Cymbalta was raised I had that pain so severely that I had fears that I was having a heart attack. The cymbalta in the higher dose also raised my heart rate to add to my fear.
When the med was cut back, the pain in my chest subsided.
i know thanks guys mine just seem to be constant and it goes away for days and then just flares up again .....is acupuncture good for this i have had to take precription pain killers cause the pain is just draining now ,,,hopefully it will subside in a few days
I have suffered with this pain as well. I never found a good way to relieve it. I visited a couple of doctors but nothing seemed to work. For whatever reason the flare has gone away and I haven't had any chest wall pain in months. So hang in there!!!!! I did start taking prenatal vitamins and I have been feeling much better all around, I have not clue if that's just coincidence or if the vitamins play a role in helping the flare
Costochondritis. It is one of the over-lapping conditions of fibro. If you haven't been to your doctor, you may want to make sure it isn't an infection. Otherwise, chostro has no apparent cause. It just happens and is typically harmless, other than the pain.
If you aren't taking vitamins, you might try a good multi with supplemental vitamins B and C. Keep track of these flare-up so that you can inform your doctor about them.
I wish there was a way to avoid getting it, but it has no real know cause...it seems to be something that those with fibro are prone to getting. An anti-inflammatory may help if you choose not to use prescription pain meds.
I hope you feel better soon and will keep you in my prayers. Take care.
