Fibromyalgia & Fatigue

Hi, I am a 25 year old female that was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in August along with many other things...I have been staying so tired, some days sleeping more than 15 hours....Just getting out of bed sometimes is almost impossible...For you all what has been the most helpful treatment (exercise, therapy or medication) for your fatigue?  All of my medicines cause fatigue and so do all 8 to 10 diagnoses I currently have...Thanks so much for your help.

Hope you're feeling better this evening, and a little rested. You overdid yesterday, I overdid today. I cooked a Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. My son got to come over finally for dinner, had tried on Thanksgiving, and Christmas, but my ex always "already had plans" You know how that goes.I feel lucky I've only had one rally bad migraine in my live. I'm sorry you suffer with them so much. I know I'll be paying for the rest of this week while I'm working/driving, but it is worth it to me. He's going away to college this fall, so probably the last time for several years I get to do the "mother" stuff. I get down in the dumps every time I think about him leaving, raise them to be independant and look what happens! LOL My legs are really hurting, having trouble sitting here, so going to warm up the electric blanket and call it a night. Take care all, and God Bless.....Maggie

Sounds like the Lamictal doesn't help migraines much, huh?  I have seen so many Neuro's I can't count them. Most are *****.  Nah, they are so full of themselves. I don't bother with them anymore and use my primary for my meds. I know what I need and he complies. Just got a message from him and he is now making house calls!!  Got my Dr. Welby. You probably don't remember that show, but he was the best Dr. on TV, always went out of his way for his patients. So does mine. I was in the hospital twice this past year and he was there everyday, sometimes twice.  Had 8 dr's lined up to help me.

so the Pamalor works?  Imitrex works immediately and you don't have to take it every day, just when you get a migraine. They now have pill form that you only take when the migraine hits. Perhaps you can get your Rhemy to give it to you, as your Neuro sounds like old school and a jerk. Or can you find a new Neuro?  I have found some nice ones. I will never forget going to the ER b/c when migraines hit me, I couldn't stop vomiting. Then I would go to the ER for a morphine shot. I remember one jerk who told me I hadn't tried enough drugs and I was there for the morphine. Morphine only works for an hour and a half, why the hell would I go to the ER vomiting in the car the whole way, getting someone to take me and then waiting god knows how long in the waiting room to hear this cr@p!  Back then it was the only way I could get a bit of relief. I would get home and an hour and a half later I would wake with a worse migraine.  At least I wasn't vomiting. YUCK. Those were the worst days ever.  The fibro pain is agony, but nothing like those migraines at times.
What do you think started the Fibro?

No, I have not tried Imitrex...It was my first Neuro who put me on Pamelor, he was a smart a**, excuse my language...But you would think an idiot like him would actually be nice to people, considering that he is not very competent in what he practices...lol, but that is for another discussion...I had begged to be taken off of it, but he still insists that I need to continue treatment..You know those types of doctor's that have the God Syndrome, luckily he is the only one I have seen since onset with this disorder, lol...I couldn't take to many of them...But honestly I think because I do take Pamelor and Lamictal together, it helps...Because when I took just the pamelor I felt little or no ease...And when I tried just the Lamictal I had no hope at all of living a day without migraines...

When I was your age, I begged the Dr. to put me through menopause, knowing they usually go away then.  You don't have to tell me about the agony of migraines.  Awful!  Have you tried Imitrex?  That worked really well, the shots, until I started having heart palpations and had to stop.  That didn't come around until I had 20 years of migraines though. I take Fiornial/codiene, which helps a lot. I take them when the headaches wake me up, go back to sleep and they are usually gone later.  I tried so many drugs for migraine, can't even remember them all. Pamelor I remember, but don't think it helped much.  When I got the migraines I would use ice for the first day and then got a steamy towel on a heating pad. It sure felt better, didn't take the migraine away, but I was much more comfortable.

To be truly honest with you, I really do not know..Because on top of it I am on Pamelor for headache prevention...In November, my PCP told me to discontinue use of all my meds except the lamictal, requip, lasix and potassium...When those migraines hit, I had no other choice but to resume use of the Pamelor...Like he said it is hard to really say, because mine could be way worse without it...I know he stated that months before he told to discontinue those medicines...Lol, if the migraines can get any worse than what they were this last month, they are worse than crippling..I couldn't even move my head when they came on..All I could do was lay face flat down on my bed with my head stuffed in my pillow...OHHH, it was agony.  I still have cluster headaches, but not nearly as many, I feel like they are pretty controlled...Yes I do.

My fog I don't remember, but I think it has been about a month or more. I started on 50mg for a week, then 100mg for the next, now up to 150mg.  He never said to take more. The first week or two didn't help the pain much. It sure is now.  I just want to get up and do stuff.  I was on Neurontin and started with the whole dose in one week, felt like I was jumping outta my skin.  Stopped right away.  This time I did it slowly, don't feel like a zombie, but I sure feel like doing nothing.

Has the drug helped the migraines and clusters?  I had the worst migraines ever before menopause.  Sometimes at least a week every month I was in bed.  My boss thought I should go on disability. Thankfully the common migraines have subsided, but left with clusters.
